My mother transcribed this recipe for Green Goddess dressing at a San
Francisco restaurant in the 1940's. (The salad probably was first
concocted at the Palace Hotel in SF in the 1920's.)

Green Goddess Dressing

1/2 cup sour cream
1 cup mayonnaise
juice of 1 lemon
1 small can of anchovies, very finely chopped
1/4 cup of parsley, very finely chopped
1/4 cup of green onions w/stems, finely chopped
1 tsp wine vinegar
1 clove crushed garlic
1 hard boiled egg, finely chopped

Combine ingredients and mix well. Add to a bowl of washed mixed salad
greens such as romaine, escarole, chicory, etc.

Yeah, that looks about right, maybe a tad anchovy-heavy, but that must
have been a hell of a big bowl of greens to take about 2 cups of dressing.

Thanks for the recipe, though.

Bob's version of Green Goddess dressing includes avocado. Good stuff for
sure.

Can you just post the recipe please?
I was unable to log into that site without my computer giving me a virus

Couldn't you put avocado chunks in the salad?

:-)

Yeah, but it's not quite the same as puree mixed in the dressing and
smeared all over the greens! ;-d

That's a Message ID, not a URL. After using Usenet for all these years, how
can you possibly still not know how to search Google Groups using a Message
ID? I've posted the method here before.

It's not a site. It's a message ID. Plug it into a google-groups
advanced search and you'll get the message.
