I currently cook with pretty much only an 8" Cooks Knife and a 2 blade
Moulinex blender - the type you twist the lid to make
work. I would like one with a timer. Doesn't have to hold more than
about a litre max as I generally use it for sauces/frying oil & peppers
and so forth. Recommendations? Solid, not too expensive and can be left
unattended. e.g I would set a time for about 3 or 4 minutes when mashing
oil and peppercorns & coriander seeds together in it.

What does that make?

Never heard of running a blender for 4 minutes at a time, let alone
one with a timer.

Any motorized blender only needs to run for seconds, not minutes...
and you'd best watch it, not walk away.

<boggle> It was an honest question.

And that's at least two of us who have questioned why you're running
a blender for 4 minutes. Maybe you just a better blender, period.

I've not heard of this before, however, having a black pepper infused
oil sounds like a good idea. How much peppercorn to oil do you use?
Thanks.

Braun hand blender.
No extra container to clean.
Whiz the hand blender in some hot soapy water, whiz it a bit more under
warm running water to rinse.

All done. ;-)

I've gotten spoiled...

That is not a black pepper infused oil.

Remember there's coriander in there, too. There's nothing he's
doing that couldn't be done with simple spice grinder. Of course we
really have no clue what he's doing, and apparently he doesn't
either.

Are you talking about an immersion blender?

Don't bother with a timer on a blender. There is nothing done in a
blender that needs to be timed. There is also nothing to be done in a
blender that needs to run for several minutes.

May I ask why you are "mashing" oil and peppercorns/etc. in a blender?
Why are you "mashing" them at all? Just crush or grind the seeds then
mix them with oil.

I recently turned over my ages-old, ever faithful Oster blender to my
daughter and her room mates. I considered replacing it with another one
of the same style, but upon re-examining my needs I bought an immersion
blender instead. Love It!!

In this case someone wants to complicate something that isn't at all
complicated.. must be boredom.
