I've got a few and yes I have. They seem to be better then oven
thermometers. I lined a few of them up in my smoker and there was a
big difference in them. I played around one night and set the oven to
200 with a bowl of water in it. There were 3 thermometers on the
shelves. After an hour I used an insta-read on the water. The
thermometers all had different temps and the water was way under 200.

So my experiment was useless. I'd like to know a better way. I'll
probably break down and spring for an infrared thermometer.

An infrared only reads the surface temp. It will not take the temp
of the inside of the roast. Your roast at 135 inside will read 250
with an infrared.

Yes. All were within plus or minus 0.02 degrees F at 32F as well as 212F.
Checked at a local calibration lab, just because I could.

I wasn't clear I guess. If I point the infrared at the oven
thermometer it should tell me how accurate it is and also if my oven
is accurate. I think?
