Kinda like the guides I've seen for rolling out pie dough. I've tried using a frosting spreader and a flipper with not so good results. I'll have to do it on my counter and a metal scraper would destroy the counter. >It never occurred to me to spread all the masa >first and just pile up the husks, then do all the filling/rolling as a >separate step. The tracks for holding the pad in place would act as the depth gauge. (off to Home Depot to take a look) Bob |

Then I looked around at all the other projects I've got going and was glad I ordered it. Lou |

I did buy a $1.48 plastic 6" putty knife that I can experiment with -- use a belt sander to cut a wide notch down the middle and leave a little bump at each end for a depth gauge. Bob |

I was wondering about that. I've done a lot of drywall work and it didn't seem right. > I did buy a $1.48 >plastic 6" putty knife that I can experiment with -- use a belt >sander to cut a wide notch down the middle and leave a little bump >at each end for a depth gauge. When mine comes hopefully tomorrow I'll see what the nubs at the end look like. She was able to spread and pick up with the same tool which it what I found cool. It's been a long time since I've used a bondo spreader but I'm thinking that might have some DIY possibilities. I'll see what this thing looks like when it arrives. Lou |

(the shipping is a little high) I've only made tamales a couple of times, and it's been a while. I don't remember spreading the masa all the way to the edge like she did. Aren't you supposed to leave a border at least on one side so you can wrap it easier? Bob |
