Strawberries and powdered sugar, if they're tart (we get them like that
here)

Good post, Christine. Sheldon can be tiresome, but I find myself agreeing
with most of his posts on food and I learn things from him sometimes too.

Strawberries? Nothing but a good clug of fresh double cream will do for
me

How dare you! Must everyone think exactly the way you do? Sheldon has
never been anything but abusive towards me, but I still take on board his
good posts. We are as entitled to our opinion as you are.

I know whom I consider to be low, and it isn't Christine.

I find myself able to calibrate for Sheldon's communications style

Sheldon is certainly a person. He deserves some respect. The phrase
"just as you and I" doesn't work for me. Perhaps in real life it is
true. I certainly hope so.

Nevertheless, the fact that you choose to engage him, means you are
choosing to associate with him. What does that say about you?

20%, IMNSHO. Sheldon is very knowledgeable about some things.
Unfortunately, his knowledge usually gets lost in the garbage. When it
doesn't, it gets lost in the lies, racism and foul language.

A lot of wisdom there. Of course, it applies triple to Sheldon. I got
tired of his silly attacks years ago. Just about every mention of
mushrooms invokes an attack. Any mention of buying ground beef gets an
attack.

> You mean with the simplicity thing? No, what I wrote was in answer to the

Sometimes simple is best. Of course, we don't need to write posts about
buying strawberries, rinsing them off, and eating them au naturel.

There is "Wicked Pete's" Strawberry Blonde Ale. Not bad stuff if you
like beer with fruity overtones.

Pyramid makes a lovely apricot ale, too.

Actually, it says that they are respectively 48% and 36%.

Apparently, in some regions heavy cream can be up to 42%.

Your argument is flawed: I post KNOWLEDGEABLE information in rebuttal to the
BULLSHIT posted by clueless AOL newbie Sheldon "Pussy" Katz, so I am *not*
"exactly like him."

Thanks to Michael Odom, I found an organic farm stand 3 miles from my
house! Their organic strawberries are in and I'm picking up a batch
tomorrow. If they look really good, I'm planning on making the below
for a small dinner party Saturday night. Makes for a light and tasty,
very, very pretty dessert:

@@@@@ Now You're Cooking! Export Format

Strawberry Spectacular

desserts

3 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons bread crumbs; unseasoned
6 sheets phyllo dough
vegetable cooking spray
2 pints strawberries; hulled
3 tablespoons semisweet chocolate; grated
confectioner's sugar
whipped topping
mint leaves; for garnish

Stir together sugar and bread crumbs. Remove 6 phyllo sheets from
package. Stack phyllo sheets. Use a sharp knife to cut into
rectangular halves, each about 13"x 8 1/2". Working one at a time, for
each pastry pouch, crisscross 2 rectangles so that they form a cross.
Cover the others with plastic wrap and then a damp cloth.

Coat crossed sheets with cooking spray; sprinkle with 1 tablespoon
sugar-breadcrumb mixture. Place 5 medium, stemmed berries in middle of
cross; sprinkle with 1/2 tablespoon chocolate. Gently pull up and
gather phyllo ends to cover strawberries completely and to form
rosette or pouch.

Coat baking sheet with vegetable spray. Place rosette on tray. Make 5
remaining rosettes. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate 2 - 12
hours. Prepare and refrigerate strawberry sauce.

Preheat oven to 450F. Bake rosettes 5 - 7 mins., watching closely,
until phyllo is browned and crisp.

Meanwhile, spoon about 1/4 cup sauce onto each of 6 dessert plates.
Top with hot rosettes. Dust top with confectioner's sugar. Garnish
with whipped topping and mint sprigs. Serve hot.

Sauce: Stem 1 pint strawberries, slice and set aside 1/2 cup. Blend
remaining berries in food processor with 3 tablespoons sugar. Stir in
the 1/2 cup sliced berries.

Notes: Indianapolis Star

Yield: 6 servings

Really. But now I know a new word, one that my dictionary doesn't even
know!

My 1969 American Heritage College Edition has it: "of or like an old woman"

The online Oxford English Dictionary has "Of or like an old woman,
old-womanish; imbecile", which seems to agree but also to imply that
"anile" might be used for either sex. Not that it's a word I have ever
or probably will ever use!

Black pepper with strawberries...sacrilege.

Best bet...wild strawberries over homemade ice cream made from cream
double-skimmed from whole milk milked from my own cows. Will have to
wait for two months for the strawberries but the taste of wild
strawberries is to kill for.
