One of the first things I do when I get a new Windoze computer is
goto MyComputer->Properties->Advanced->Performance and turn off the
"Use Visual Styles" checkbox. That's the one that makes your
computer look like Fisher Price designed the desktop.

Actually, I turn off all the checkboxes there except "Show window
content while dragging" and "Smooth edges of screen fonts" and "Use
drop shadows..."

Same here, my screens are as close to Win 98 as I can get them. Fisher
Price colors don't dwell in my computer.
