Default The Times Sq bomb - guess what?

It was a Paki. Surprised? I'm not!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/8658888.stm

A man suspected of attempting to detonate a car bomb in New York City
has been arrested.

Faisal Shahzad, a US citizen of Pakistani origin, is accused of driving
the explosives-laden car into Times Square on Saturday evening.

He is due to appear in court in Manhattan later.

US Attorney General Eric Holder said Mr Shahzad was arrested at John F
Kennedy Airport attempting to board a flight to Dubai.

Well, Pakistanis are known for holding tea parties and drinking large
quantities of tea.

Why is everyone tap dancing around the words "Muslim Terrorist"? No
one in the media will say it.

Being reported now: Shazad has admitted to it and tells interrogators
that he got his bomb-making instructions in Pakistan.

Must be true then. Couldn't possibly be in anyone's interests to lie to
the press. Especially the intelligence services. We know they always
tell the truth. It's in their charters.

So how come British and US soldiers keep getting blown to bits by
Afghans with less resources than the average boy scout and this
character, with the resources of a major Western country at his
disposal, and one with few controls on the public purchasing the
materials necessary to make improvised explosives, couldn't even manage
a 'phut...'...

The Pakistanis say he's a graduate of a Taliban training camp is
Peshwar, it sounds more like he's a graduate of the Islamabad branch of

He's a graduate of a Taliban training camp and now we hear that his
dad's a retired Pakistani army officer.

Yeah! And why don't they call Timothy McVeigh a "Christian Terrorist"?
Or the Muslim Terrorists that bombed the WTC--Why don't they call them
Saudi Terrorists?

It's only been a day since he was caught. I assume Fox has already
hammered the word "Muslim Terrorist" for 53 hours by that time.

Perhaps they're waiting to find if the rationale was Talibani Jihadist,
Pakistani Nationalist, Americani Disgruntlist or something even more
hip!

Short memory syndrome.....CBS, NBS and ABS repeatedly referred to
McVeigh as a Christan Terrorist.

Alas, Americans are misconstruing Muslim Terrorist and Terrorist as the same
thing.
I still think that the 'insurgents' are going to **** of the wrong
government, who will promptly nuke them. Else they are going to nuke Israel
and start WWIII.
Then Taliban and Nazi will be equally 'dirty' words. And just as extinct as
a major force.

I see you're just trolling in rec.food.cooking to spread the political

Depends on which they you mean. I've heard all of those terms at one
time or another.

On the news this morning they showed a picture of his house that had
been foreclosed. It would be double plus ungood for this to become a
general cause for suspicion.

On the news they also showed the sign of the company he worked at.
Ajilon is a large IT consultant company. They used to be top 50 in the
field but I haven't checked their size lately. I'm an IT consultant at
a smaller company in the field. We IT consultants tend to travel a lot.

Why isn't Timothy McVeigh referred to as Christian Terrorist? Islamic
would also be a bad choice of words. Islamist would be fine, because
he is likely associated with the movement that aims to create Sunni
Muslim theocracies in many of the Muslim dominated countries, possibly
even doing away with those borders in favorite of one giant caliphate.

But again, why wouldn't we call McVeigh a *Christainist* terrorist?
Why don't we refer to the Hutaree as Christainist terrorists? Even
this Wiccan site doesn't go that far, instead calling them "Christian
warriors": http://thewatch.wicasta.com/?p=1057

Do you think there is some possibility that "the media" is trying to
be even handed?

Even more ridiculous is the fact that Eric Robert Rudolph was given a
life sentence, when there is no question that any Muslim who committed
the same act would have been given death. The parallels between
Rudolph's case and that of Islamists is strking. Why didn't the Bush
Administration insist on the death penalty for this terrorist.
Because he was THEIR terrorist. He shared many values with hardcore
"Christianist" voters, who tend to strongly support Republicans. You
have any other explanation? Why didn't they use Guantanamo-style
interrogations to try to find the folks who hid him? You can't
answer that, can you?
