Hehe not quite. Those have the same base 'bunch growth' but are long,
spindly, with such mild flavor they are used more for color than any worth
to a dish.

A normal shimeji (to use the spelling you find them under) is about the size
of an asian pear/apple. Call it 4-5 inches tall and across but thinner at
the root ball (which is washed well of dirt makes an excellent soup
addition). Definately a picture of them at your site but separated so you
see just a few conjoined.

Check them out and let me know what you think?

It has a flavor kinda like celery and parsley. You can use it raw in
salads and slaws. It will discolor so put it in a bowl of water that
some lemon juice has been added to. You can also use it for making
soup.
I bought some just yesterday. I plan on having some raw with pork
chops tonight.

Get out your sharp knife, it's hard to cut into like acorn squash.

Compared to Enokis, the head to stem ratio is larger. :-) I find enokis
to be rather tough and use them more for decoration.

Check the "asian soup" recipe and pic set on the albums page.

Thanks Koko! Those things are HUGE. A little celery stalk sticking out
the top of them and that root ball is a good 10" across! I can make
meals for 2 days out of one easily. :-)

Once cooked thoroughly, puree it and use it as a base for a cream soup.
It's pretty good stuff.

Don't know what to tell you. I think this is like your fourth time in
the last few weeks saying he's been KF'd by you -- yet you reply to him
directly. Either your filters aren't working (because he ain't morphin')
or you happen to enjoy getting bashed.

KF him. Be done with it. Don't reply to anything you see. You'll be much
happier for it. Really.

That sounds reasonable, thanks! :-)
I can probably trim and pressure cook it, then go after it with the
stick blender.

Pressure cookers save me time. ;-) I think I should be able to soften a
celery root in 20 to 30 minutes. Baby octopi generally get a long braise
and they are reasonably priced at the Stassney Fiesta market! I like to
stuff them.

Bob did not win. He cheated and went off topic to insult.
Therefore, he's a loser...

Well, twitilliger really isn't even that..... in the greatere sense of
the word.

It's sick......... mentally sick.

As has been seen on many, *many* occasions, as soon as things don't seem
to be going its way, it has a proclivity to resort to the most foul and
disgusting retorts of a perverse sexual nature. Seems the trait doesn't
run too deep in it.

I would suggest that everyone that knows it implores it to seek good
professional help for it's deviant sexual thoughts and actions.

It should be able to secure some sort of psych help through the VA, even
though it never actually saw any combat....... it should be available
due to its previous service. If not, maybe a Fund should be started and
everyone donate some money so that it can get the help it so badly
needs?

And Mark, kf'ing someone doesn't mean they win....... it just means that
you value your own time and don't want to waste a minute on cretins.

Yeah, I know. That's why I put it in quotes. I can't explain it, I used to
taste soap almost every time I ate Tex-Mex, Mex, etc. but no more.

That's one reason why I never KF (or refuse to read the posts of)
anyone. Why not confine insults to things you truly believe about a
person? Those are more powerful anyway. Even though it's in
retaliation, Om is sinking to the level of folks who make *that*
accusation, and she should know better. Calling another poster a
pedophile is lazy. You might as well say that so-and-so is a big ol'
poopyhead. Shame on both of them.

I totally agree.
He went over the top so was no longer worth my time.

I put on the movie "Diehard" in place of him.

Much more entertaining, and Bruce Willis is cuter!

When I was working a pressure cooker saved much time. Now I am retired, I
enjoy taking time and doing things gently and slowly I am enjoying it
very much)

Cheated? I only insulted you after you insulted me. So if insulting is
cheating, then YOU are the one who lost. You love to dish it out but you
can't take it, I see.

Please note that Om insulted me BEFORE I insulted her. It's not a case of
lowering herself to my level of discourse, it's a matter of my escalating
her hostilities. She started the insults, but she couldn't handle the
retaliation.

Bullshit. You insulted me before I insulted you. That's EASY to verify.
Unless you and Stu are the same person, you have lied again and again about
who started what.

That's ridiculous. Are you saying that attorneys and police are all
fantasizing about the crimes with which criminals are charged? Stupid, even
for you.

Things pretty much *always* go my way. If your sexual proclivities weren't
so shameful, you wouldn't be so ashamed about my mentioning them.

It makes the house smell good. :-)
I don't pressure cook everything, just things that are tough and would
take all day to cook, but I also have a crock pot for such items on the
weekends.

Yes, I have a mohawk, fifty piercings, and tattoos all over my body. Will
you be leaving in disgust now?
