Argos did a survey of their Cookworks-signature juicer (£29) and from 62
reviewers it got a 4 out of 5 star rating. (most said it was fine, some said it was awful). Argos now do a cookworks juicer (page 1175 in catalogue) which is a new model and costs £19.99. It looks neater and takes up less room than the previous signature model. We would be using it mainly to juice carrots (to make up a salad dressing) Would anyone have experience of this latest incarnation Cookworks juicer, and whether it is as good as their previous more expensive version? Thanks for any advice. |

Can't help you there, but I'm curious. It always seemed to me that if you didn't care for vegetables/fruits, the juice wouldn't be a real turn-on either. Also, you're left with all that pulp, and throwing it away seems such a waste. I've never heard of making a salad dressing with carrot juice. How much do you use? Would using the water from cooking vegetables be a substitute? |

Well, obviously a lot of folks don't have teeth... must be the UKers... they can't even chew a sandwich unless it's cucumber on soft white with no crust... ever notice how all UK cusine can be gummed; fish n' chips, mashed spuds, cooked to death stew... they even suck spotted dick! Produce is pretty pricey nowadays... I can't imagine normal brained folks paying good money for fruit and veggies only to turn it into compost. And I work too hard and invest too many resources to juice the produce I grow. For a lot less money, no machine to buy/operate, and a lot less labor one can buy all kinds of perfectly good fruit and veggie juices/nectars already prepared and in handy dandy containers at the stupidmarket. Most Hispanic markets sell all kinds of fresh tropical fruit nectars for very reasonable prices... frozen concentrate too. And it's sacriligious to juice melons, just the thought gives me the willies. |

They've been somehow convinced that juice is better than the original product, so they turn it into juice. Yes, there may be reasons why a specific person needs things turned into a liquid. But there seems to be a whole lot more people who think juicing is good in itself, and that's where the "what's the point?" questions come in. Michael |

LOL Same with America's most popular food, the hamburger. The only part of the fast food burger that provides resistance to the teeth are the pickle slices. The bun, burger, and cheese can easily be gummed. |

I know folks who bought juicers... they used them like crazy for a couple three weeks and then it just sits collecting dust for years... the novelty wears off fast. Unless someone has real health issues where their alimentary canal can't handle plant fiber the juicer is just another useless gadget. I think it makes a lot more sense to get your juice from a can of V-8, with the requisite equal part of vodka naturally. |

The bun, burger, and cheese can easily be gummed. The Yanks can choose to gum their food to death, many have all their teeth pulled just so they can have perfect straight white false teeth. |
