OK, I looked and it was not a pretty sight. I hope the person who
made that mess had to clean it up!

Was there any explanation for that little fiasco?

I'd guess at incompetence. Must have been a very thin crust to just all
through like that.

Indeed, and perhaps they learned that cheese, heat and gravity does
not make for a successful grilled whatever-it-is...

It was part of a few pics emailed to me, the theme seemed to be
'failure'.

<lol> Fortunately, it just looks like a toaster oven so it's easy to
clean! I'd never have done something that stupid tho'.

It looks like they simply used raw dough. And the oven was set too
low (it doesn't look cooked).

Aha, I see. Thanks. Well, I guess we'll never know if it was staged
or real then. It's hard to believe anyone could really be that dumb.

Oh, I can certainly believe it...

I moved away from home when I was 16. Had NO idea how to cook.

My first attempt at fried rice wasnt exactly successful... although it
was fun watching the raw rice (straight out of the packet) ping out
of the hot frying pan with oil in it

Hate to admit it, but I was certainly capable of such cooking
atrocities in my teens

We could have an entire fun thread of cooking disasters while you were
learning to cook. lol Of course that's probably been done to death here.
My favorite was my sister's two nasty creations as a kid. Pudding made with
water instead of milk and her pancakes with lumps of baking soda.

I hadn't noticed that! Now that you mention it, there is no bottom coil so
the bottom wouldn't have cooked at all.

That is one of the ways I like to make brown rice. I fry it a bit,
letting about 1/4 of it pop before cooking a usual rice. Gives a
wonderfully nutty flavor!

Sounds like a perfectly logical thing to do, considering your sister's
age at the time

Heh

Actually, I managed to burn popcorn the other night. Put it on high
heat without thinking, then walked away to the computer. It all
/sounded/ normal.... pop pop pop... but then came the smoke billowing
between the lid and pot

Duly noted, will have to try that next time I cook rice (which isn't
very often due to carbs).

That was my point. I can picture her doing what you did around that
age, but not as a teen or adult.
