Default O/T: In-N-Out Burger

If you are near Garland, TX (Dallas), In-N-Out Burger is headed your
way.

You're in for a treat when you order "The Animal".

$10 an hour!!!

I was getting $10 an hour back in the late 70's!!

But the $100k for the store managers sounds good.

Wow. A whole $10. In AUD$, even!

Do you ever stop to think about anybody but yourself Peter?

$10/hour is pretty good pay for somebody's first job, still in high school
(or out) and working fast food.

It's $9.90 more than I pay you to lick my shoes. Excep they have this
thing here about paying illegals.

I've only eaten at I&O three times and each time I waited 15 or more
minutes for my burger while there were more workers than patrons.
And I didn't find the burger any tastier than a $1 Jumbo Jack, and the
fires, even ordered well-done, are the suckiest fries in the industry. But
they pay their employees well, so as long as somebody goes there to eat,
I'm fine with that.

Actually, it's "animal style":

http://www.in-n-out.com/secretmenu.asp

First you choose your burger, then you add that you want it "animal
style".

They are much overrated, in my opinion. They built one about two miles
from my house. My wife is happy, but once every couple of months is
plenty for me.

Uh, that is nothing like I&O. I&O doesn't even have bacon. And
the biggest burger is 1/3rd lb. And all the buns are the same
size. There are only 5 items on the menu, one kind of cheese
(orange), and no relish.

I second the notion that It's VERY over-rated.

Well since the founders left the business to their young daughter the
quality has suffered terribly. She was something like 23 at the time she
took over and started messing with the formula that made I&O famous. I've
not eaten one in years. As I recall the last time left me nostalgic for the
old days. They made some dandy shakes.

Heh... Once every YEAR is enough for me, but I do love In-N-Out, and I don't
think they're overrated.

I like an In N Out burger occasionally, but I don't like my onions
grilled.

The company is still run by a conglomerate of Snyders, and the
current CEO (when they're not OD'ing on hydrocodone) is a
non-Syder. The 29 year old doesn't get to be CEO for another 6
years. So "she" has not been able to "mess with the recipe", you
male chauvinist swine.

I'm almost glad they don't have them where I live. I can picture
I'd wind up there a couple of times a month. As it is, I have to be
satisfied with making the burgers once in a while and that doesn't
come with a shake or fries.

What I&O has is quality and consistancy.

The fries ARE made on site, the potato slicer guy prominently featured
in the drive thru window doing his thing, as are most of the burger
flipping/assembling staff. No relish, but good quality meat and
American cheese. Real tomatoes and onions, not pre-cut. Leaves of
lettuce torn from a whole head, not iceberg slaw out of some plastic
lined box.

I don't think I&O makes the best burger, but they're a huge
improvement over any other burger chain I can think of. My fave
burger was a little ol' Korean guy and his wife who made a very
similar burger on his one-man hole-in-the-wall grill. Looked the
same, cost a tad more, but marginally better. I never could figure
out why, jes was.

I would but he never likes the settings, it's always white sheets and white
curtains and white carnations plus he won't tip the help and that just makes
feel all ... ooohhh awkward ... the bitch.
