Bring the stock up to a rolling boil, stir in starch slurry... all done. Add creaminess as desired. It is usually time consuming to make the base stock, unless you use a pressure cooker.<g> Then it only takes about an hour and you can go do something else while it's cooking. Depends somewhat tho'. If it's beef or pork, my personal preference is to prepare the base the day ahead of time so I can refrigerate it over night for proper defatting. The process is still very simple. And it freezes or cans well. I have pics. ;-) -- Peace! The first problem here is the blatant double standard, which is pretty obvious to everyone who compares my vulgarity to that of clueless AOL newbie Sheldon "Pussy" Katz. The second problem here is that Om has nothing of culinary value to contribute to this forum. Bob |

Well, actually, she has made some contributions, and negating them makes you look bad. I fully realize that some people learned to fight in their families of origin with "You always X, you never Y, you're the worst Z" but that shit won't fly here, in this audience. Keep it in the family if that's how you fight. In this audience, it makes you look like a liar. Lately OM seems to be more interested in getting attention for herself. And she's got a grudge against you, so of course she would put her oar in. There's also a huge problem when one of these threads that features 1-2 people happens. The other people on RFC who are compulsive attention seekers and really want RFC to be all about ME ME ME MEEEEEEE tend to really stick their oars in and try to, surprise surprise, get attention for themselves. This is, not surprisingly, not happening on this thread. obFood: The yellow peaches I got from Pedrick Produce in Dixon were really amazingly good, so I got some on my way back from Davis yesterday. I'll miss my stops at PP when I stop taking quite so many trips up into the Valley because the produce is excellent, the bulk selection astonishing, the gourmet groceries (Cajun mixes, local honey, that sort of thing) impressive, and the prices are easy on my wallet. I will also be making another apricot pie with Pedrick apricots Real Soon Now. Charlotte -- |

All I know about B'field is that my parents usually stop at the Mimi's Cafe there when they are doing SoCal runs if they are not eating with my uncle up in Fraisneaux. Fraisneaux has a lot of good Armenian food as well; maybe some of those folks live further south. I'm sure they have some equivalent to the Farmer's Wife out in Carmichael, though; you will need to ask when you get there. Maybe the Cal State campus has a farm store like CSU Fresno does. Dad likes Dr. Pepper so I get him the diet stuff to keep him off the sugar. Ironically, sugar free cool-aid is! I love mostly the Black cherry flavor and the fruit punch. Orange and lemon are also acceptable and in fact, lemon cool-aid makes a fantabulous low calorie margarita mix! I never buy any of the other flavors. Cool-aid also is good for flavoring knox gelatin for making knox blox. I'm considering those as christmas gifts this year. -- Peace!
