There are enough recipes stored there for just about anything you'd
want - at least, I have gleaned a ton from it.

It was was it purported to be: a Usenet group where recipes and only
recipes could be posted; where one didn't have to wade through a bunch
of sick computers, dead cats, political arguments, smack talk, legal
threats, or lunatics with an axe to grind in order to find or request a
recipe that was just a recipe.

It was what was advertised.

My theory is that it has been supplanted by all the web recipe sites.
Some of them have many thousands of crappy recipes, and are easily
searchable. I once did a search for recipes using the words "meatloaf"
and "fruit". Got quite a few, some that looked interesting.

And anything that wasn't a copy-cat recipe was copied from one of the
million recipe sites that copy each other's content over and over again.
There was a chicken recipe that had the same spelling mistake on 50 sites
and someone would post it on R.F.R. about every 6 months. I stopped
following it after a year or so.

Unfortunately, tho' there are some good recipes posted, the group is
often the province of people who dump quantities of unrequested and
untested recipes and the moderators never stopped that.
