.... An old KitchenAid mixer with a glass bowl! It works too.
There were two, and the first one I plugged in smelled like
something was burning. That one had the bowl, beaters, and the
metal thing that covers the hole for the attachments. I asked
whether I could take the accoutrements and then did so. This one
is missing the metal ring that is supposed to be on the outside of
the aforementioned hole. I hope I can find one.

I probably should have gotten the newer KA too. I think it may be
a wee bit older than my own, but am not sure. They were only $25
each, and someone would have wanted it, I'm sure.

Your score is better than mine, but I'll add my find:

a seventies looking manual orange juicer, the kind with the domed
juicer screwed atop a glass jar. A few weeks ago, my son asked me
how people get juice out of oranges. For fifty cents, now we have the
answer.

Yes, I am very pleased. I just wish I had gotten the somewhat
newer one too.

Ah, but just yesterday or the day before I was thinking I should
go back to using such a thing. I don't know why we now have so
many electric and battery-operated devices when we could be using
manual things. (Of course, I recognize the fact that some would
find that a hardship.)

"time saving devices"........by the time you plug them in, use them
and clean them up you've used up more time than if you did it by hand,
usually. I think we all have a pantry full of electric 'devices'
that we seldom use....toys mostly.

The Cuisinart Little Pro Plus gets more stuff out of each orange.
Plus, if you're squeezing a bunch, it'll keep your hand from getting
sore. I once squeezed a gallon of lime juice (77 limes) for a camping
trip. Doing that be hand would have sucked.

Go back this weekend. They may still have it. Or check the local
thrift shops--they may have donated the leftovers.

Very unlikely that item would have been among the "leftovers."

Last month my wife got a NewWave infrared countertop oven for $5. Not a
gadget that I'd want to pay full price for but at that price it's been
great.

Last Saturday I got a tabletop gadget that is meant for making fajitas with
a round section for warming the tortillas. It has a round glass lid that
can be used on both sides. I paid 4.00 cdn. It looks like it's never been
used. After looking it up on the net I found out that it was missing the
plastic framework ( mostly decorative, I think). I made burgers on the
grill side and toasted the buns on the tortilla side. Tomorrow, fajitas.
Love yard sales. Most of my small appliances were found at yard
sales.....Sharon

My lovely wife was upset with me the other day. I found a nice set of
manual hedge shears at a garage sale and gave them to her for her
birthday. I thought I was doing something good as she had been bitching
about the old shears. Hmph!

I had been wanting a Kitchen Aid mixer for a good year, but I couldn't
afford to spend a lot on one. I had been checking craiglist, but they
were still over $100. I have a few things that I make that would
really be nice to have a good mixer, but I wasn't ready to spend that
much yet.

Then, about 2 years ago, I was looking for used cabinets. Our plumbing
had backed up, and the limited cabinets were ruined. So, I was
searching the craigslist ads to find some free or cheap cabinets that
I could use to set up a new kitchenette. It took a few months, but I
got a response to one of my wanted ads. A nice complete set of oak
cabinets that look awesome. The only downside was that the old counter
top had to be destroyed during the removal process. But I found a
couple free counter tops a couple weeks later that worked perfectly.
So, I have 10 feet of lower cabinets and 10 feet of upper cabinets.

She had me come out to her house before they were removed to make sure
that I liked them. The lower cabinets have pull out wire drawers. She
also gave me her over the oven microwave. I gave my old one to my
nephew, as this one is larger and nicer than mine was. I was so happy
when I went to see them that I took her some of my salmon dip. We
talked about it a little, and I said the only hard part is the mixing
as I do it by hand.

A couple weeks later, when the cabinets were ready to go, I went to
pick them up. Apparently, she upgraded her Kitchen Aid mixer too, as
she gave me her old one. For free!

I was already so happy with the cabinets, and this was awesome. It is
a 4 1/2 quart model, with the metal bowl, and 3 attachments.

What a romantic dog you are, George. She should give you haircuts with

I'm contemplating an electric juicer, but a friend says she tried the
KA one and the juice ran down her arm as she was reaming them.

I have one of the aforesaid glass-bowled KA's, a B-3 IIRC. The metal
disk that cover the attachment hole is the same throughout the years.
At least, my attachments from the B-3 fit on the one I got over 10
years ago.

The beaters and bowls don't fit, but the attachments do. How weird is
that?

My son manages an apartment building and when one tenant moved she gave

leaving things behind and he has to dispose of them whether they are useful
or junk. He does well in some instances......Sharon

I would have, but I am trying to tell myself that my new main

Ah, the only one I have seen was in a Cambodian market, of all
places. It didn't seem to be one sale--was just sitting on the
counter near the cash register. It looks interesting. I hope you
report on its use.

That little thingy seems to be one piece now. I might write to
KA. Thanks for the warning about the bowls and beaters. I was
wondering about that. (The old one is at the new house, and the
newer one is still here, so no experimentation yet.)
