Default Might be good, but I wouldn't call it bacon

A local restaurant makes clarified butter and infuses it with smoke flavor
using something like a bong. They heat that butter over medium-high heat,
then cook thinly-sliced portobello mushrooms in it until crisp. The crisp
mushroom strips are then smoked some more. The resulting product is called
"portobello bacon."

Would it be a worthwhile thing to try?

Of course it's worth a try! Are they salted?

I'd certainly give it a nibble, but wouldn't want to make it at
home ....
