Looking for help with buying a counter top oven toaster. Looked at
Cuisinart, but some of the reviews mentioned glass door exploding, another brand mentioned very hot handle which burns if you don't open the door in a particular way. Another mentioned oven unit remained hot even after it being turned off. Would just like a good well-made model for toasting bagels, toast, pastries .. and maybe bake an 8" pie sometimes. Thought to ask here after reading reviews from customers who bought their units online. Appreciate some help. Miyo |

It's a piece of junk. It claims to also be a dehydrator, but if you try to buy the dehydrator racks (which are not included), they're out-of-stock. If you bake anything that produces moisture, the digital display fogs up. If you use the convection feature, the fan dies after maybe a year of use. |

It cooks things nicely in the broiler and convection modes and it works great as a toaster. Mine is about two years old so I don't know if Black & Decker still makes them, but I would be surprised if they don't. |

Hit send too soon. If you look below each listing it says "used and new from..." If you click on that link you can find even cheaper deals. Some have 'warehouse' sale prices meaning the box was opened but the product is undamaged. Those are the deals I look for. |

Ok, I have yet to check these models. I just don't want to end up with a
unit that has those faults I mentioned earlier, or have trays that warp when heated. Going to read up more on the ones you all mentioned (except for the Toastmaster) in a minute or two. Thank you very much all for your input. |

It's worked very well for Spouse and me, and it's used several times daily. What's especially nice is there are three heating elements, both top and bottom of the unit. It's just large enough to handle a 12" pizza. Nearly any toaster oven will be hot after its use, until it has had time to cool down. I believe this particular Krups model is no longer made, but I imagine Krups still makes similar units. IIRC, this one cost about $160 on the price-tag when it was purchased (from BB&B with 20%-off coupon). We're very happy with this toaster oven. Sky -- Ultra Ultimate Kitchen Rule - Use the Timer! I don't know if they still make the bigger convection > one, but the smaller Alfredo model is also pretty decent. Before I purchased the Krups toaster oven I mentioned in another response to this thread, I tried a Delohghi convection (with rotisserie) model. There was a problem with this Delonghi model in that the interior rack did not have full-slots along the sides of the entire depth of the oven, so the rack would tilt downwards when it was pulled out to remove a baking container. Someone else from RFC had noticed this fault with the rack supports. I returned the Delonghi and purchased the more expensive Krups instead. It was definitely worth the upgrade, IMO. It's ok, no problem. You're most helpful with the link. Going through the
lists .. reviews are helpful but I look more for common pluses or minuses for each product. Price is not a problem as long as the product poses no hazard, burns, fire, etc and the parts (glass parts, trays etc) are well made to withstand the unit's heat. |

![]() I'm satisfied with a Cuisinart model TOB-30BWC, "Cuisinart Classic Toaster Oven Broiler"; this model or its successors should cost no more than about $70. The shelves do slightly tilt if you slide them more than half-way out, but only by 5 or 10 degrees, they do not completely tilt forward. It is not a convection. (Why would one want convection?) It is probably the best toaster oven I have ever owned. If my DH, the world's greatest kitchen klutz, can manage to use it without injury or complaint, I think it's a pretty safe unit. I purchased my Cuisinart online. Most probably from Cutlery.com, but go to nextag.com and put in the unit you want and you'll get price comparisons. -- Janet Wilder Way-the-heck-south Texas Spelling doesn't count. Cooking does. |

I do not think the table top monstrosities people call "toaster ovens" are worth the counter space they take up. So, unless it's a two slice toaster oven - use your regular oven. Regular ovens do not heat up the kitchen and you never have to think about getting yourself or anything else too close to it. -- Forget the health food. I need all the preservatives I can get. |

If it is under the counter in a corner in a more confined space I could see where it might overheat and cause the safety cut off to activate. Even the most expensive counter tops generate quite a bit of heat and if they are in a confined space they problem you are having might show up. |

The rotisserie is too close to the top element so it's worthless. It only toasts the top of the bread so you have to turn the bread over in order to get both sides toasted, and forget about broiling in. I'm in the market for a new one also so I'm reading this thread with great interest. I'll have to wait until next month though, my new camera lens has me eating beans and rice 'till the end of the month ;-) koko -- There is no love more sincere than the love of food George Bernard Shaw www.kokoscornerblog.com updated 06/11/10 Photo Gallery www.kokoscorner.photoshop.com |

I have an Oster toaster/convection oven I bought at Target about 3
years ago. $49.99 plus tax and occasionally they have them on sale. I'm very pleased with it, does the job it's supposed to do, no problems and the temperature gauge seems to be right on the mark. It was $50+ well spent and I would buy this brand again and it does accomodate small pizzas. |

I would give the .Cooks-Essentials-6Slice-Stainless-Steel-Con
vection-Oven a try but nowhere online is it available. It's really surprising that with all the technology it's so difficult to find a good reliable normal everyday kitchen appliance such as this that doesn't explode, catches fire, parts melting, burn and noxious fumes hazards, inferior parts etc .. the more I read of the different models within the specs I'm looking for, the more I add to my list of criteria. However, I've finally worked down to the Breville BOV650 Compact Smart Oven, the other Breville model is larger than I need. |

These things vary depending | on the newsreader and the computer and the phlogiston circulating. | | pavane I sent a copy of the above to you on the "reply" button, it was returned as "unknown and undeliverable." Just FYI pavane |

I'm not changing anything there if things work so far for most of the stuff .. but I do appreciate guidelines or instructions from people who can/like to instruct. Sorry if I can't get the quote other than now I'm pasting the contents of your last thread to reply. Thanks for the heads up regarding your 'reply to' (me) as being undeliverable. Have a good day. miyo |

I was looking to upgrade to a larger toaster oven as I have a small kitchenette and no real oven. My small one was too small for a typical brownie pan. My parents had an Oster that I really liked, and I happened to find the same model at a yard sale. I've had it about a year now, and I love it.It's big enough for anything I want to cook. It heats up fast. The display is nice. |
