Tour the ball park or Anchor Steam Brewery. We have a new DeYoung
Museum, a new Academy of Sciences and the Asian Art Museum is located
in the old library now. If you go to the DeYoung, you'll get free
admission to the Legion of Honor - same day ticket twofer deal. Have
you been to Angel Island? How about Coit Tower and Fort Point? Check
out a San Francisco City pass if you plan to visit the museums or the
academy of sciences (great planetarium show, price included in
admission). Of course, there's a lot of sight seeing on the other
side of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Just guessing - Tadich.

*In* the Bay? Do you mean on a Pier? This side of the Bay?

I love cooking with wine.
Sometimes I even put it in the food.

Yes, in the bay. It's a floating restaurant,
and a ferry takes you there from Pier 39.

Your link doesn't work for me, but if it's Forbes Island, the food is
supposed to be terrible.

If it was that one, she could have looked it up without asking.

I loved the museum but San Jose is over an hour from SF. Be sure to
stay for the planetarium show.

I liked the Build-A-Bear Workshop. I've seen them in other regions
since so maybe they were the founding store of a chain. We have a
couple of "California bears" that are made to look like the bear on the
state flag.

Food at grocery stores - Gallo brand salame rules. Please ship some
home. To your home, to my home, whichever. Strangely, Gallo brand
pepperoni is unimpressive and not as good as Hormel.

Finding restaurants in the city - Walk down hill until you see the
water. Look both ways for seafood places with a good crown inside. Eat
wonderful seafood. It's a simple but effective technique.

Or it could be Scott's in the Embarcadero Center.

The Academy of Sciences has cheap late opening on Thursday night
(free if within one week of your birthday), no kids allowed that
night, and they have a planetarium (not included in basic admission,
but the aquarium is).

"Cheap" meaning $12 or so.

Across the street, the DeYoung presently has an impressionist
exhibit on tour from Paris. Their late opening night is Friday.

Okay, if you're far enough out an odd-numbered pier in a restaurant,
you could be simultaneously in San Francisco, on the bay, and
viewing a sunset, particularly in the early summer when the
sun sets in the northwest.

Apparently it's Tadich (which I would not have said is "near
the Embarcadero", but it's not too far).

Yup. Winchester House is would be at the top of my list if going
S. of San Francisco.

That isn't it, but as another poster mentioned, it might not even be
there anymore Taditch's I was pretty sure would be. And we have a
Frommer's, but I didn't see Taditch's in it.

I had an elderly aunt that was a Rosicrucian- she left a bunch of
stuff from then when she died. A very strange group!!
