I decided to add a few shakes of cinnamon to my waffle batter, but
grabbed the pepper my mistake. (I keep em on back of stove in
identical shakers, dummy me,) After a few "Oh, sugar"s, I was able to
extract most of the pepper from the surface, at least so I couldn't
detect it in the waffle.

Black pepper Waffles

Buttermilk-Black Pepper Waffles with Swiss Cheese
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup unbleached white flour
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 cup skim milk
1 Tbsp ground pepper
1 Tbsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 Tbsp maple syrup
2 Tbsp ground flax seed meal (optional but majorly delicious)
1 cup grated swiss cheese
Software
Food processor
waffle iron

Directions
1) Grind oatmeal in food processor until course.
2) Add cheese and all other dry ingredients. Grind again until cheese
is entirely broken down.
3) Add wet ingredients and combine one more time. Check for salt and
to see if there's enough cheese.
4) Cook in your waffle iron

Notes
- Making this batter in the food processor couldn't possibly be any
easier. It takes about 2min.
- To make vegan buttermilk combine 1 cup full-fat soymilk with 1 Tbsp
lemon juice or vinegar and substitute accordingly. This also works if
you eat dairy but only have regular milk around.
- I don't know much about vegan cheese but if you find a vegan cheddar
that melts I suspect it would work very well here.

Unless your waffle batter was super sweet, what the heck... make
creamed chicken and serve it over the pepper waffle.

Forget the health food. I need all the preservatives I can get.

Or, serve as is, say 'it's a new recipe, okay!' and give the death glare.
Usually works.

Hey - this sound pretty good. Can I put flax seeds in a spice mill
and produce the meal you call for?

I had one of the waffles with peanut butter, black currant jam and
yogurt cheese - no hint of pepper.

Black pepper can acually go pretty well in sweet things (unless it's hugely
overdone). I'd have added some ginger and allspice!

I guess I didn't make it clear. The pepper was sprinkled on top of
the whole bowl of batter!!

Oops!

I was referring to a way to make it easier to not make the same error
again. I'm glad that your waffles turned out well tho'!
