Default This morning's breakfast

I like this breakfast. It's one of the best breakfasts
I can make for so little input of time. I already
posted part of it, but I improved it today. The
weather prediction is it's going to be hot, so I
want something I don't have to cook this morning.

All of the ingrediants come from Trader Joe's.
They a

1 can Wild Pink Shrimp
1 bottle Greek Style Feta Dressing
1 box Classic Original Water Crackers

Open the can and drain. Add some dressing
and stir it in. One bottle is enough for many
cans of shrimp. Put a spoonful of the
dressed shrimp on each cracker and eat.
One box of crackers is enough for maybe 2 or 3
cans of shrimp.

Sounds really good actually. :-)

I got ambitious this morning because I was actually hungry.
A 2 egg omelet with chopped canned Hatch chilis and Monterey jack cheese.

Default Last night's dinner/this morning's breakfast

Son and daughter in law were here overnight with their little guy.
Daughter and family came for last night's dinner.

Dinner started with wine and baba ganouj and cheeses and crackers.

We grilled some wonderful tenderloin steaks from Costco, the best I've
had in years, tender, juicy and flavorful.

Sides we
Rice pilaf
Grandma's sour cream cucumber salad
Sauteed mushrooms
Fruit salad with cantaloupe, orange honeydew, watermelon, strawberries,
champagne mangoes, and red grapes

Dessert was brownies with coffee or vanilla ice cream

Breakfast this morning:

I bought the makings and son put together an overnight breakfast strata
of sliced challah, eggs and cream flavored with Grand Marnier and orange
zest and served with real maple syrup and sausages.

Eight hours later and no one is really hungry.

As pedestrian as MT's 'recipe' is (obviously he's a single guy, living
alone!!)..... I'd eat it if given the chance.. as well as your omlete :-)

Breakfast this morning was a cup of warm (not hot) black coffee.

Might have an apple and mango juice in a little bit.

Looks like you all have been eating good. The strata sounds wonderful,
I haven't made one in the longest time, I think I need to make some
soon.

You will be back to solid food soon enough... and with an increased
appreciation of it no doubt! :-)

Maybe some really really soft cooked eggs? Ask the doc first of course!

Funny thing is...... every tiume I open the fridge, I can smell each and
every individual aroma from all the different products!!

Used to be I'd just open it and it would be one big aroma.

It's kinda cool now :-)

That will most likely be next week.

Even water feels like a brick at the moment.

Eating.... just another thing I used to take for granted, but something
which I now have a greater appreciation of.

Sounds really good. :-) Fruit is well priced right now. I've been
thinking about picking up a bunch and taking to my sister's family for
the nephews. They love fruit!

I understand! I've never had to quite deal with what you are dealing
with right now, but I've been unable to eat due to illness for up to 5
days. Wanted to too. Just could not keep it down.

Get creative with liquids!

Got a blender?

Probably because you don't use your colon as a social gathering place, like

I neglected to explicitly state that you can mix
the feta dressing with the shrimp in the can that
the shrimp comes in. That means the only thing
you have to clean is the spoon. What a deal!

This would be good for college students, while
at the same time being sufficient quality for
people who care about food. I was tempted to
toss in some chopped shallots or something,
but I think that would violate the aesthetic
of can-bottle-box.

I'm actually not even hungry for food...... probably because the pain with
just water and other liquids is scaring me right off anything solid!!! :-)

The SO is rather conscious of eating in front of me, but I assured her
it's OK. So she cooked a chicken breast in the oven, and had some steamed
veges with it...... and I was honestly Ok with her eating it, it didn't
bother me one bit.... but I just *had* to do some shit stirring :-)

As she cut into the chicken, I told her it smelt really good. Then I said
"Do you love me?" She said "Yes" and then I said "Would you mind if I
licked your chicken?"

:-)

She was just about to pass it over when I told her it was OK, I didn't
really want to do that :-)

It may be so....... but it's still gotta go down the throat and hit the
gut.

It'll get better once the wounds have healed some.... and the nerve
endings have settled down.

I should also mention that the dressing and shrimp
should be chilled. I've now tried this both chilled
and at room temperature, and chilled is better.

I also described this to my favorite person at the
sample desk, and she's going to bring it up with
her boss. Who knows where this might lead -- my
recipe might end up being rolled out throughout the
Trader Joe's sampling empire! That would be cool.

I bow down to you Bob. I have been a real arse and i apologise. The SO
has been a real P.I.A lately since she caught me wanking to pictures of
her brother. I tell her I find everyone in her family attractive and she
seems to be okey dokey with it now.

OK. Enough already. A few private jokes (I guess it's not a joke, so
"private conversations") between two people on the newsgroup seems OK,
but this just keeps getting repeated over and over. I'm a patient
person, but I'm running out of patience.

If you don't want people to know what you are talking about, or what the
situation is, that's fine. Take it to Email. That's what it's for.

No great dramas Dan, but I can see why Om got 'short' with FoodSnot.

It's been a FPITA for quite some time now, and really hasn't contributed
anything food worthy, at all. One wonder why it continues to inhabit this ng.

As it was, I related a (what I thought was) funny story from the other night.

FoodSnot seems to take xception to everything.

Also, I don't see where it's getting repeated "over and over", unless
****wits like Twit et al are hoeing in..... I have all the ****wits kf'd, so
there are only a couple of posts that I have seen.

I purposely haven't made a 'drama' out of my surgery and made details of it
public, as I'm not that type that feels the need to do so.

But, in the interests of your personal edification, because I deem you to be
one of the 'good guys', I had a small bowel resection, and a partial
gastrectomy.

It's not a PITA, but it's a real PITG at the moment.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery. There are so many parts of our body,
and we tend to take them for granted. Until they have a problem.

Thanks. It's coming along, slowly.
Still not hungry for 'real' food ATM, so I'm sticking with a multitude of
soups and energy drinks.
Got a TV crew coming to do a segment tomorrow, and the Boss is away for
the day (I wonder if he planned it that way??!!), so I'm it, and I'll be
heading over to the 'office' in the morning. Must remember to have a shave
before I go!!

LOL!! Tell me about it!!

I never realised how much we relied on our knees, till I had a crotch to
toe cast on my leg for about 5 weeks!!

Nah. Saw it after I posted. I rarely read entire threads before
replying. I answer and post as I read them. :-)

Cheers!

Any threads that have a direct reply to a post of mine has a red diamond
with a green dot in it on the left hand side, and a yellow rectangle with
9999 in it on the right hand side.

I always look at them, and just quickly scan the other threads subject
line to see if anything piques my interest.

Because she hasn't been getting her "chicken" licked lately? Maybe
not for quite some time? That could pretty upsetting, not getting her
chicken licked, and with little prospect of it getting licked in the
near future.

I guess that "chicken" had become a pretty obvious euphemism. Know
what I just found out? A group of *******s is called "a sprinkle of
*******s," much as a group of crows is called "a murder," and a small
group of soldiers, "a squad." I don't know why I started thinking
about *******s...OK, I just lied. I know why.
