Are you sure they're OUR triplets? I don't think they look very much like
you.

With such a winning attitude and personality, it's very odd that
prospective employers aren't lining up at your door!

Well, it's not so much here in the U.S. - I rarely hear "post" used in
reference to a teaching position.

Nobody cares enough to try and impress you. I was just stating the
facts. Actually, I see deans, department heads and faculty. What's
your problem?

I wonder if MR realizes that in these times, prospective employers
routinely check out prospective employees by finding them on the Web
in various places, and can easily see how someone reacts to others'
comments and how literate they are....

I don't have a problem with the word "post," I just rarely hear it
referring to a teaching position out here in fly-over country.
Undoubtedly, that's my problem. Usually, I hear, "I have a new
teaching job." LOL.

It's young corporate jargon and I hate it. Every word is used to make
something more desirable. Who wants a job when you can have a post.
My favorite is opportunity. Who wants to apply for a job when you can
be a candidate for an opportunity?

Gimmie a break. It's a freekin JOB!

In the past I taught at two different universities and no one ever
called my job a "post." They just wanted to know if I would work cheap
so some full professor could do his "research."

Geez Lou, I just blew iced green tea over the key board. I was a
corporate recruiter for a couple of years and my idiot boss wanted me to
write newspaper ads for opportunities. Luckily they caught up with the
idiot and got rid of him. People I was talking to were looking for
paying jobs, not the opportunity of a lifetime.

LOL. Sounds familiar. (Did you ever read "Moo" by Jane Smiley, or
"Straight Man" by Richard Russo? Both are absolutely spot-on and
funny.)

You know, I never thought of that characteristic, but you may have
something there. OTOH, did you read that news item a week or so ago
about the woman who could "tell" if a man was guilty of rape or not
because if he was a virgin, he had a red spot behind his ear? And
some men who had been locked up for rape were released by the
courts? Unbelievable what some people believe .... [oops, I see a
lot of men checking out their ears....]

Too weird.

Your body cannot adjust to changes in temperature because you
have a stuffy nose?

By "research" do you mean "get his name added to all of his
grad students' published papers so that his curriculum vitae
looks better"?

Thanks for the clarification. I know a couple of professors in the
California university system and they don't use the term (at least
around me) either.

I think she read it too quickly before responding. It was easy to
misconstrue the meaning of the entire sentence, especially when on the
defensive the way she was.

Trust me that I will have NO problem. Those students are not racist
like nncy and the likes of her. Most are proabbly Hispanic people. I
have dealt with mnay of them. They are much better human beings than
people like you and Nancy and her idiot group, none of whom are worth
any more of my time.

You clueless Americans judge me from a few interaction on usenet.
Very smart (NOT)!

Note: Read "Very smart (NOT)!' in the sense of negation; it means
DUMB.

Gee Miche. Are you aware how many main category of rhinitis there are
and how many sub categories in each category based on the causes and
that some are more complicated than others?
There are two main types: Allergic Rhinitis and Non-Allergic Rhinitis.

Guess which category mine is. If you guess right, I will share (not in
this group but via direct reply) how mine works and there's no
medication to cope with and how the sunus mmebrane swells.

Are you saying that you portray a different personality on Usenet than
your real personality?

Your interactions on Usenet are not indicative of your real personality?

Now why would someone intentionally do that?

I wasn't aware that you knew I had groups! That would include, of
course, the r.f.c. A group and also the B group. I'm also in the
Cabal (TINC). I also know that I don't know what race you are, so I
can hardly be called a racist, and I also know that you are not a
native-born American because you use the "R" word with spectacularly
cavalier abandon and apparently aren't aware of how destructive and
derogatory it is perceived to be here in the U.S. I also know that
it's unfair of me to try and match wits with someone who is unarmed.
That's really all I need to know. Happy trails, as we say in my
world.

Showing up for a Professor interview with one shoe, no, that would be a
problem--professor is pretty far up the food chain. But showing up for
an associate professor interview, they're expecting a newly minted PhD
who has been living on a student's income for going on a decade--one
shoe means that the other one fell apart.

Or that you are one-legged.
