Default turtle burgers! my new favorite dish . . .

The nearby Asian market is now putting the frogs
in the same cage with the turtles. I guess they
don't fight each other. They're both alive, but
they seem lethargic. They're seem to be two
different types of frogs, based on their coloration.
They're also seem to be two different types of
turtles, but only one type is available now, and
the specimens are rather small.

There's a sign warning that it is illegal to release
these animals into the wild. I was thinking about
that. I live next to a creek, and it would be
cool if there were turtles and these big frogs
there. And I could harvest their progeny. But
of course I won't do that, because it is illegal.

I'm pretty sure that's how many invasive species came into being in
the wild.

Forget the health food. I need all the preservatives I can get.

Yup. Like the giant snakehead which is mainly used as a food item in Asia.
Someone here locally admitted to releasing some and it was as if they'd
unleashed Godzilla the way the press reacted. They've even made movies
about it.

i'm not sure it's hype. the snakeheads pretty aggressively displace more
desirable species.

I personally don't take snapping turtles from the wild; but I teach some kids who take them (in july, not June when they're laying eggs; thus the law to protect them in June.) Some of the best meat ever. Don't ask how to get it out of the shell.

Now, I'll go tear out some purple loostrife out of my lower yard because some bonehead thought they'd be pretty. They're trying to takeover cattails, which are native and much better for wetlands per their filtration abilities. Please don't bring a new critter to the table unless it's a red snapper or something super tasteeeeee. JK.

Oh, I know, but the news about the poisoning of the lakes and other measures
to get rid of them went on and on. They're here now, and nothing is going
to get rid of them at this point. Unfortunately.

Cattails are allegedly quite tasty I found a recipe for them in a Bayou
Cuisine cookbook yesterday.

poisoning the lakes doesn't seem like a good idea.

it just shows to go you - introducing new species into a biosphere can be
dicey. it's not nice to **** with mother nature.

Don't let Sheldon hear ya say that.
