The inventor of the cheesy poof, the cheese doodle or whatever you call it
has gone on to meet the other junk food legend who passed with in the last
year, the maker of the ramen noodle. Whoever will college students have to
look up to now.

Now this is an American tradition you can buy here, but they are called
Fonzies. Fonzie is much admired here.

I don't think ramen noodles are inherently unhealthy.

I love cheese curls, but only the crunchy ones, not the poofy ones.
But I don't buy them often - maybe once or twice a year when I have a
craving.

Well, there's ramen noodles, and then there's Top Ramen, which is what I
think we're discussing. Top Ramen is deep fried in palm oil, which is
about the worst oil in the world as far as saturated fat percentage:

I haven't looked at any ramen packages recently,
but aren't they all deep-fried? That what makes
it possible for the noodles to be reconstituted
by boiling water.

They would use saturated fats for that, because
the life of the oil in the fryer is longer and
the shelf life of the finished product is also
longer.

I'm not really sure there is a significant
difference in risk among ramens. There was a
company that made "healthful" ramens several
years ago (Westbrae?), but when I went looking
for them a few months ago, they seem to have
disappeared from the market.

Ah, yes. Google informs me it was Westbrae,
and their ramen lines were discontinued 6 years
ago. Too bad. I guess health isn't a good
selling point for ramen. Kind of like doughnuts
that way.

Ah, but that's not what most people think of when they think of "Ramen
Noodles". They think of the stuff you can boil in 3 minutes then add a very
salty packet of "seasoning". LOL

I am proof that not everyone who drinks Red Bull would dare suck an egg.
I love a Red Bull at the beginning of my work shift. It *helps* a bit
when one is dragging.
I don't even eat eggs (on their own) so why would I suck one??

i suppose i should buy one to see what it tastes like, but have never
gotten around to it. red bull and vodka has the reputation in d.c. of
being the favorite swill of young republican congressional aides.
