Some guy fires a handgun into the air and his kid gets hold of the gun and accidentally shoots the guy in the gut. |

Yes, the Taliban have indeed attacked weddings with RPGs. One of the many reasons they have to be eliminated. |

I think somebody here missed the point but the quotes are so mangled that I can't tell who. When there are Predators around, shooting at the sky can result in the sky shooting back. In the experience of most US pilots, people shooting automatic weapons into the air is an indication that they are trying to hit something that is in the air, not that they are exhibiting high spirits associated with a social event. So, they assume that those bullets coming at their Predators are intended to hit it, and respond in kind with vastly greater firepower. So, Earth to Afghanis--if you want to enjoy your wedding night, make sure that your trigger-happy pinhead relatives leave the guns at home. |

It's not a matter of differentiating, it's a matter of "shoot at a Predator, you and anyone standing near you dies". Shooting into the air can be interpreted by the Predator driver as shooting at the Predator. In Afghanistan and Iraq, if you shoot at the sky, expect the sky to shoot back. |

According to Obama, we have no more combat mission in Iraq. There should be no missiles on Predators here... according to *him*. Meanwhile, in a story dated August 12 in today's Stars & Stripes, there's a story about a group of al-Qaida thugs who smashed into a family home in Iraq and shot the parents. Then they told the two young children to run to the coalition checkpoint and tell the officials there what happened. When the cavalry arrived on the scene and entered the house, the terrorists were no longer there -- but they'd left a bomb behind, which detonated and killed six more people. Bob |

We are indeed in an economic recovery, it is just a rather weak one and varies quite a bit by region. Your area may well not be seeing much recovery, but my area is indeed seeing a lot of economic activity, new construction starts (both residential and commercial), new stores and restaurants opening, job growth, etc. |

No, he's right. The pilot[1] will act to protect the aircraft if he's under fire. That may or may not mean returning fire; it depends on the Rules of Engagement for that operation. Bob [1] Yes, they are called "pilots" and they wear flight suits for their missions. One of them even showed up wearing a parachute once. |
