That would be a nice gesture if only it were true. Astro Pops were
discontinued 6 years ago.

"In 1987, Spangler Candy acquired the Astro Pops Brand from the Nellson
Candy Company of Los Angeles California. Astro Pops, rocket-shaped
lollipops, were reputed to be the longest lasting lollipop on earth. In
September of 2004, Spangler discontinued the product line.

http://www.spanglercandy.com/spangle...r/faqs.php#Q7:

They have recently been brought back into circulation by a different
company who bought the rights to them, but that was after the latest USPS
food drive when you claimed to have given them.

And here you are 4 years ago telling us the same story. Again, 2 years
after they were discontinued.

http://groups.google.com/group/rec.f...n&dmode=source

And the previous year you claimed to have given them out for Halloween.

You sure got a lot of mileage out of those AstroPops you bought 22 years
ago and probably ate yourself. We oughta nominate you for a Nobel Peace
Prize in Humanities and Bullshitting.

That was a LONG time ago. And no one clued in the postal carriers. They
weren't expecting to have to pick up donations of food. It didn't happen.
(I don't know if it happened later or not.) Some neighborhood kids pilfered
through the box of food I'd set out and stole the box of crunchy taco
shells, presumably to eat as snacks. Now I do my contributing directly.

USPS teamed up with Campbell's Soup? Knock me over with a feather.

This may well be true, but no one picked up the box of canned and dried food
I set out that the letter carriers were supposed to pick up. And what about
those neighborhoods where they still carry mail bags door-to-door? How are
they supposed to haul around donated food? It doesn't make sense. I'd
rather give to a central pickup location if I cannot give to the food bank
directly.

I donate to my local animal shelter. I don't donate to people, they
can get a J O B. People can also avail themselves of myriad
grubbermint handouts... animals receive zero entitlements.

How many people do YOU employ, hypocrite? You and your buddy Sycophant are
all about giving jobs to the unemployed, but neither of you actually
practice what you preach.

you prefer animals because you are marginally smarter than them. with
other people, you lose this advantage.
