Not that clear to me.

make lots of money for certain shoe companies. Have you looked at the
prices for these things? Ridiculous!

I would suggest talking to a real medical person before investing an
extra US$100 in a pair of shoes.

Good advice, but of course, won't make any money for Mr. Typefree or his
"affiliates".

Diabetics should eat "regular" food.

That's absolutely absurd. Carb control is extremely important, but that
is nothing like "carb free".

Still good advice, but better advice is to ignore this site:

You have no idea what you're talking about, Stu.
Leave the medical advice to those who do, please.

one thing i've noticed since becoming handicapped is that handicapped gear
is *expensive*. i don't know whether it's economies of scale or a captive
market that is responsible. i suspect the latter.

My father has US$300 tennis shoes. They look just like any other tennis
shoes, although they were custom fitted. He used to get his nails cut,
at US$140 each time. He didn't pay for either one of these, you and I
paid, from Medicare. My sister fired the nail trimmer, because he
wanted my father to have unnecessary surgery. My father has no pain in
his feet (no feeling, either), and his problems with walking have to do
with his legs, not his feet.

The connection is quite real, and some people understand it. I think
the brief sentence above is designed to sell shoes. I'm sure many of us
know that buying those shoes will not prevent diabetes, but that's not
what it says. Sometimes a little bit of information is worse than no
information at all.
