god forbid i should disagree with mr. bittman, but i wouldn't want to be
without my mortar and pestle. not something you use every day, but the
best tool for some jobs.

I use my processor (hummus for example) for some things and my mortar and
pestle for other things. Different tools for different jobs.

it's difficult to imagine, say, making a paste of salt and garlic in the
processor. or pulverizing toasted sesame seeds.
