Ok.

I only do this cuz I'm changing the name and whole concept, which will
not be a dedicated cooking blog. That, and it sucks!! I only posted
4 photos of what it looks like out my front room window (2 of 4 pics) for
sky.

I'll repost my blog again when I learn how to actually create a site,
not using the abysmal pre-fab web creation tool provided. I can do
better stumbling thru manual html editing. Jes takes more time.
Anyway, here's an idea of where I live.

As for the name, don't ask!

Yes, eventually, but it will not be a dedicated cooking blog. More
like Ranee's, with other interests, but including cooking.

So, where are the photos? "Click on photos above and click on pics to

I've published a lot of slips lately, but the problem is my connection has
been so bad the edit page won't fully load, so even if I can edit one thing,
anything not loaded will be cut. I have to walk away much of the time.

Shame on you, Barb, and the others who've been so unkind to the
original poster. At least she's trying to get up a blog and
contribute to the food blogosphere. I don't see much of anything from
the rest of you who've have nothing but critical remarks.

I myself am jes starting a website. I'll tell you right now, it's not
easy. I consider myself pretty much a computer geek, but having jes
dabbled a bit with my hosted website, I've found it to be a huge can
of worms. The OPs site is a free blog, so that's why the ads.
Considering what can be wrong with a website, a few spelling errors
is the least of it.

For instance: I looked at Serene's website. Nice content, but it's
really screwed up when viewed from my browser. I have to shift the
screen a whole screen's width to the right to see any content, and
then the intro banner is a whole screen's distance to the left. It
needs some CSS code for different browsers, a common but difficult
issue to deal with. As for your gallery.me website, Barb, I can no
longer even view it at all. I get a dead error page telling me what
browsers will work and mine isn't listed, so I'm SOL. I find this
hilarious as it's an Apple Inc generated error and Apple's OS X
operating system (OS) is based on Unix, but I can't view it from a
Linux OS based computer. You don't wanna take the trouble to
accommodate me and my browser? Fine. How is that different than the
OP not wanting take the time to accommodate you folk's spelling
hangups?

I suggest you all go back and get your houses in order, or even try
building an online house, before throwing stones at someone else's.

Oh, thank you for telling me! No one's said anything about it before

I'm use Seamonkey, which is a close cousin to Firefox. Seamonkey is
basically a continuation of the old Netscape so many of us learned on.
Both Seamonkey and Firefox originated out of the Mozilla project which
evolved from the Netscape organization. While both are basically the
same, there's jes enough quirky differences between the two to make
Seamonkey a bit weird compared to Firefox, and since FF has become the
defacto std, Seamonkey sometimes acts like the retarded cousin. For
instance, I can view 99.9% of all web content, no problem, with
Seamonkey, but those little 0.01% glitches come along, like yours and
Barbs websites.

I will also tell you I can view both yours and Barb's sites jes fine,
and as they should appear, with Firefox, which I also have and
occasionally fire up when running across these 0.01% aberrations. So,
I wouldn't go out of my way to change what you have on my account,
Serene, but jes to let you know not all browsers view all sites the same.
This is why style sheets (CSS) are used and why it's so difficult to
make every website available to all the various choices of operating
systems and browsers, out there.

Yeah, I'm aware of all this, but I'm working on my CSS skills anyway, so
I may as well make the site as accessible as I can. Thanks!

Java? Sure you don't mean javascript? Unless of course there is some
server-side java that does the obfuscation of stolen content. And using
'perl' instead of 'pearl' in your quest for knowledge would probably have
made the learning curve a bit less steep (but then, you may like 'large'
curves). As for ssl, what's there to learn about it? Fill in the fields on
the web-form of one or another friendly protection racket to buy a cert,
hand over the money, and install the cert on the server.

Well, depends on what your definition of manual is. I use quanta,
which is manual in my opinion. although I guess it works as a WYSIWYG
editor, also. OTOH, I don't trust WYSIWYG editors so probably won't
be using it that way. Manual, in my opinion, means I gotta stick in
the code in text. The fact quanta will throw up a mouse menu offering
me choices for tag options is jes a helper, as I'd otherwise hafta
look it up in a book. I still gotta make the choice. It also fires
up my choice of browser to view the resulting page with a single
keystroke and can edit a page online, but I still gotta enter the
proper code in plain text. That's pretty manual, to me.

Well, it's not a *stupid* church! I guess when novels first got
popular, there was talk of banning them. The youth would read them, not
realizing that they were entertainment and not a description of Real
Life, and their lives would be ruined. Fortunately, people soon
realized that the youth could in fact tell the difference between
fiction and Real Life.

I think this cite is a bunch of crap:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Novel

"A novel is a long narrative in literary prose. The genre has historical
roots both in the fields of the medieval and early modern romance and in
the tradition of the novella. The latter supplied the present generic
term in the late 18th century."

But then they go back almost another thousand years in history.

And before there were Twilight movies, there were the books, which the
movies were based on. The kid's web site was originally about the
books. When the movies came out, there was the money. The kid was 15
when she started the web site. I'm thinking that she's 18 now, and not
really a kid anymore. She just started college. She made her money
with a connection to Amazon. Every time somebody bought a book from
Amazon by going through her site, she got money.

To tell the truth, Dan, I coulnd't care less and was jes yankin' yer
chain. Besides, I think American culture has pretty much milked the
whole vampire genre waaay beyond "to death". It's in our books,
movies, cable and network tv ....even our Sunday comics, ferchrysakes.
I used to love the occasional vampire tale, but now I am bored to
tears by the whole phenom and the only thing truly scary about it is
the fact I can no longer even escape the damn things. Now you say
they're showing up in church! What's next? A Disney kid's show about
cute alter boys ...in a Christen rock band!!... being molested by a
laughable/lovable vampire priest? I wouldn't be a bit surprised.

Good for her. I wish my kid had done something profitable before college.
I'm afraid all the profits were being made by shoe and sweater sellers.
