Default Cinnabon cinnamon

I would like to use it in some recipes but the bottled stuff they sell is
too expensive so looking for a generic equivalent. Does anyone know
( aside from Makara which is just Cinnabon's fancy name for it ) what
this cinnamon is?

I've never had it so I don't know for sure, but it is most likely Korintje
.. Penzeys carries it. It is a smoother, more mild cinnamon than most.

Indonesian cinnamon (Cinnamomum burmannii) is almost like Ceylon
cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum), which is the most expensive in the world,
in that the distribution of the oils is different from the cinnamon you
usually buy in a supermarket. Most cinnamon you buy from the shops is
really Cassia bark, which is a type of cinnamon that contains eugenol.
Eugenol is what gives cloves their flavour (and, partially, their
numbing effect), so it does have a different taste. Probably your best
bet is to Google the species name and try to buy it from a spice
importer. Maybe some place like The Spice House (no affiliation - never
even bought from them):

Hope that helps a bit!

Here's more help:

http://www.penzeys.com/cgi-bin/penze...scinnamon.html

Most people on this group are very happy with Penzeys. They are a
little cheaper than the bottled supermarket stuff but the quality is
better.
