Someday, I'll attend the Bracebridge dinner at the Ahwahnee Hotel in
Yosemite.

I don't know what we're having. Last year we all met up for Mexican food
because we couldn't come up with one meal that worked for all of us.
Everyone in the family has some kind of issue with food. Either allergies
or other medical problems that require a special diet and my nephew's GF
won't eat red meat. My mom had planned to do red meat when I reminded her
of that.

We do Christmas Eve with my parents and then some years have my parents over
here for lunch on Christmas day. This is equally problematic. One year I
made turkey and noodles. They all liked it but I am not too keen on turkey.
I've also done a salad bar. That is safe, but time consuming.

too.

I wish! Maybe some day we'll do a family Christmas vacation away when
the grandkids are older.

Where did you hear about the cooking class? That's something I'd like
to do someday. Take a cruise and have a real cooking class (not a
cooking demonstration, I want hands on) as a day trip somewhere.

Carnival Cruise Line has a huge selection of "day" adventures, from
lunch and shopping, cooking classes....zip lines thru the jungle...too
many to choose from.

We are sailing on Royal Caribbean. I'll check their site but I think it
will be cheaper to book it on my own.

Not Carnival!

I went on one Carnival cruise and said never again. I was in my late
30s or very early 40s at the time and it was just too young a crowd
for me, even then.

I'll be cooking brunch and dinner on Christmas. After the Feast of the Seven
Fishes on Christmas Eve, brunch will be pretty light:

brioche pockets with:
* ricotta, peach schnapps & peaches
* spinach, bacon & cheese

fresh fruit

coffee, hot chocolate, orange juice

I don't want to go overboard for Christmas dinner, but it's CHRISTMAS, so
I'm planning to make:

gumbo z'herbes

cast-iron-cooked ribeye steaks
butter-cooked oysters & mushrooms (making dinner an offbeat surf & turf)
braised radicchio with onions and rosemary
baked potatoes
chopped salad

fig-pineapple pudding with French vanilla ice cream and caramelized bananas
