That can be *very* telling.

On the seventh day God rested.
But on the 8th day the Gates of Hell were opened
and God brought forth the Airborne Infantry.
And the Devil stood at attention.

'Cept that it isn't true. Today the President spoke to troops in
Korea.
Memorial Day 2009- laid a wreath at the tomb of the unknowns.
Veterans Day 2009- Went to Arlington to visit the section of the
cemetery where out Iraq & Afghanistan soldiers are buried. Visited
with families.
Memorial day 2010- was going to have a service at Abraham Lincoln
Nation Cemetery but weather interfered- so it was held at Andrews Air
Force base.

His budget proposals have included the largest increases in funding
for veterans affairs in 30 years.

I understand he can be a busy boy..... but only 4 'engagements' in over
two years?

Especially with the level of involvement that the US has in Iraq and the
'Ghan.

What do you call "veterans affairs"?

Over here, it's a Dept, like your Veterans Administration. And for the
Govt (here) to say its increasing funding to Veterans Affairs means the
public servants are getting pay rises and the veterans will get shafted,
as per usual.

Omelet said 'holidays' - those are the 4 veteran holidays since he's
been in office. I have no idea how many other times he has visited
troops.

Unlike Om- I have a good feeling about this administration actually
doing something for the vets. Part of that is because Mrs. Obama
has made military families a special focus. I think it is about
time *somebody* recognized the sacrifice the families are making these
days.

The mood of the country towards vets is better than it has been since
the 50's. Folks are getting the 'hate the war, but support the
warrior' idea. It is good politics to spend money on actually
helping vets. [fer gawds sake- they just passed a law saying that
ischemic heart disease in Vietnam veterans shall be presumed to be
caused by Agent Orange- no proof necessary and who cares if you weigh
500 lbs]

But he hasn't even been President for two years! And I think that there
are only two holidays for honoring these people per year. Sounds like a
perfect attendance record to me.
