When I was a kid, I remember picking the seeds out with a pin At
least, I think that's what I did. I mentioned this to my daughter today, she gave me "a look" - like "your parents actually allowed that?" Gosh, times have changed. I've had this pomegranate hanging out on my kitchen table for over a week. In any way, shape or form can I freeze it? |

Take the fruit and wash the skin, then gently, but with some exerted pressure, roll it all over on a table or flat surface, being careful not to break the skin. Once you have squished it up inside, put it to your mouth and bite through the skin and then suck the juice out of the pomegranate. Some folks think the skin is a bit astringent or bitter and use a knife to break through, but you are liable to let loose some delicious juice. In fact, when you go to take your bite and while you are enjoying the pomegranate, keep a paper towel handy, or better yet, under your chin to catch any drips. A Persian friend taught me how to eat pomegranates this way and I am forever grateful. Boron |
