But I checked the package after I wrote the above and apparently that phrase has disappeared from their labeling. My dis-satisfaction was clearly evident and should have been acted upon had they actually still had that guarantee. They used to. They know they suck and don't care. Some coupons may still appear in the mail. But I kinda doubt it. Maybe I was too hard on them. Maybe I went too far calling their products dog food. Nah. It was worth it if a few people read it other than just "Pilar" (I've never heard that name). -sw |

The UPC code (still here on my note pad: 54500 10035) and also the store where it was bought, date, time, date code from the package, my fake name and real address were all entered as part of the form that I filled out on their web page. But nowhere did it ask for a price paid. Which was $1 (on sale). I don't even glance at them if they're over $1. They're over $2 regularly. They go on sale for $1 pretty often but I usually don't buy them. -sw |

I don't bother to complain about something that was a one-off, or that I won't buy again - but if it's an intermittent quality problem (like the Fruit Naturals), then I do want coupons. And I informed Stouffer's about their too-long nuking time directions merely with the idea of being helpful. This was the new rice/broccoli/chicken/cheese entree - directions say 8 minutes for a 1100W microwave. That was at least 2 minutes too long. The edges got all hard and crusty - inedible. N. |

Ghiradili chocolate did that when I complained about their White "Chocolate" baking morsels: $5 off any other Ghiradeli product. Mezetta did that when I complained about changing their olive source for their Napa Valley Bistro line, too (various coupons). I never used any of those coupons (yet) but I still buy plenty of Mezetta products (including the olives). -sw -sw |

Of those 28 million hits (I show 31.2 millions hits - you must not be doing it right) many of those are *places* or alternative spellings of "pillar". And then of the resulting subset, the vast majority of them are LAST names, not first names. ObFood: Another chicken Cesar salad on rye. I'm sure they have about 3 form letters they send out. "Pilar" is probably an algorithm rather than an actual person. I used to be the email administrator for many different companies and almost all of them have fictitious "people" working in their customer service or support/service departments. Usually the names would refer back to the type of service or product being provided, or the nature of the email (complaint, sales, marketing, employment, etc...). For example, If I send a complaint or if I'm commenting about hot dogs, it might be answered by "Pilar". But if I send a compliment, it might be answered by "Gladys". It's very common practice. Often I got to make up the names. You would put hidden meanings in the names to make them easy to remember. For example: An upright hot dog is a pillar. Another common trick is to randomize fictitious responders names in customer service, support/service departments to make it appear as if you are a large, busy company or corporation with many employees when in fact you have very few employees, if any. -sw |

Not to mention the Treaty of Pilar (1820) between three provinces of what was to become Argentina, signed in the city of Pilar. There was a woman called Pilar in Hemingway's For Whom the Bell Tolls. When I lived in Spain, there were at least three women called Pilar in the village where I lived. It's a common Spanish name, with or without associations to saints or the Virgin Mary. -- When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross. Please note that "quality" usually means "quality assurance/control". These people are tasked with ensuring that the product actually made and shipped lives up to the "standards" set up my somebody else in product development. QA/QC never decides *what* to make, or from what they make it. Marketing and ProdDev have simple critera for their decisions. 1: Will it sell? 2: Can we make it cheaper than we can sell it for? 3: Will it help if we call it something else (Like this crap cereal contains "Flavor nuggets" and "Fruit gems", so your crumbcruncher will love it. If it wasn't obvious in my last response, let me be more explicit: I really don't give a shit about what you think. I didn't ask nor care if I got my money back, nor any coupons. If I did, they would know. When I want to be "to the point" and blunt, I certainly can be. And with RFC as my witnesses. I don't think anybody agrees with you that a customer service droid would not interpret that letter I sent as "Customer satisfaction not achieved with latest revision of product". Get real, then go be petty someplace else. -sw |

A: Three to agree on the wrong pronunciation, one to point out the correct way, and one more to point out the irony of the previous 4 posts. -sw |
