Default OT, OT, OT ..... My turn for a pc question, specifically Power Point

Last January I bought a new Gateway laptop with Windows 7, 64 bit,
dual processor, etc 4 gigs of RAM, 320 hard drive. It has/had a trial
of version of Power Point viewer for 25 sessions. I am still able to
view PP attachments but I always get the nag screen to enter my
product key for full, effortless viewing. I'm not buying the program
for $100-$200 and have downloaded the free viewer from the Microsoft
website. The download went smoothly and I followed all prompts
however I am still getting that @$#%!& nag screen to enter my product
key code.

Should I go into the control panel, delete the download and try it
again. I did not delete the trial version as this free version wrote
over the top of it. Is that my problem or am I destined to see that
darn prompt screen forever??

Any help/enlightenment anyone can give me would certainly be
appreciated.

I just bought a Toshiba laptop with much the same stuff you've got on
there, and it too has the trial version of Office.

It says that if you want to load your own copy, you have to remove the
trail version first.

If you don't want to pay for the program, go here.......

A good friend would drive 30 miles at 2:00 am to bail you out of jail.
A best friend, however, would be sitting in the cell next to you saying
"Man, that was f******n Awesome!"

Ok, I'm at work and our system is blocking me looking at the site you
posted. I'll take a gander at it in the morning when I get home.

Thanks! I'll try anything to stop that screen from popping up and
asking for a product key. ):-(

Okie dokie, I'll give it another try in a day or so when hopefully
they're not so busy.

You need to switch the file associations for .ppt files to the
newly installed viewer instead of the full blown version of (trial)
Powerpoint.

Office will always take precedence over the simple viewers for
opening the files.
