Default OT, OT, OT ..... My turn for a pc question, specifically Power Point

Yes, you should have removed the trial version of Power Point before
installing Power Point Viewer.

Probably (but not for certain) you can undo the damage by uninstalling
both of them. If that does not work, you may want to wipe the computer
clean and start again.

ARGGHHHHH!! I was afraid I should have deleted the trial version,
phooey. But I can go back and delete the free program I just
installed and hopefully this will set me straight. I'm going to look
at the site Peter posted as well and see what it looks like compared
to the Microsoft site I used.

btjunkie has the full versions of whatever programs you want, with
codes/serial numbers/cracks etc to make them work.

I got the full Nero8 version off there, and have downloaded *heaps* of
latest release movies etc.

When you select a program, click on it and it will open up to that page
which will have numerous comments from various people as to the
authenticity, quality etc of the program, and if it is worth the time to
download.

(You'll *always* get some tool in there that'll try and make you buy an
extra program to open the 'free' one they upload.)

Alright!! This sounds right up my alley!

The laptop has been fantastic and I HIGHLY recommend dual processors
and I do like Windows 7. There's been no slowness or bogging down at
all. But when you get an excellent price on a new lap warmer
sometimes the trade-offs are 'trial versions' of programs. My first
laptop, running XP, had everything on it but a chain saw and I didn't
encounter this problem. Of course it cost twice as much as this one,
but thankfully laptops have dropped dramatically in price over the
years.

Hi Peter. Be advised that the laws of your country are a bit different and
what you suggest may be illegal in another person's country.

Be advised Peter lives in OZ and the laws there make some things legal that
are not in other countries. That may not matter to you, but it's good to at
least be aware of it.

Next, like Steve says, ininstall the new software and the trial. Then,
http://download.openoffice.org/ has a MS Office clone, open source and free
(legal) in all countries. It will do what you need and more.

btjunkie's site is fully "invisible", no IP's are logged etc.

Nope, it's supposedly 'illegal' here too.

As stated just before, btjunkies site keeps your IP etc hidden/invisible,
so no one can see who's doing what.

btjunkie has been going for quite some time and I haven't yet heard of
anyone using it who's been busted.

I've tried Open Office, after being an MS Office user for about 15 or so
years, and it doesn't 'do it' for me.

You do not want to "delete", you want to *uninstall*. You should be
able to uninstall that trial version... go to Control Panel, click on
Uninstall A Program. If you installed the Microsoft version over it
you may need to reboot before you can uninstall that trial version.

Well, there are some things 'legal' where you are that aren't in some other
places. Your copywrite laws are quite different. It really is noticable
when it comes to shareware but there's other times when it comes up.

It's not so much getting busted. Some folks prefer to stay on the legal
side. Like me, clearance issues (lie detector tests, stuff like that).

I liked it well enough, then MS came up with a program for a 20$ copy of
Office 2010 for home use for all military and retired military. USA only I
believe? I registered and downloaded my copy, and paid a nominal extra fee
to have them mail me an install CD as well.

Before that, I used Open Office or it's ancestor, Star Office back in the
early 90's.
