Default Sandra Boynton's wassail bowl recipe - have you tried it?

It's from her 1980s book "Christmastime."

Humorously, as is typical for her, she lists 125 gallons of ale as an
ingredient. And 240 eggs.

Everything else is SUPPOSED to be proportional, of course, but even
two pounds of sugar seems ridiculously little if you divide everything
by 125. (So do the spices - some of them, anyway.)

Did it taste good to you, if you tried it?

(I once asked here what type of ale to use - someone said "a brown
ale.")

She must expect to have a lot of carolers come to her house.

Here's what it is when cut down to size (divided by 120):

Core and roast one apple.

Beat two eggs. Put in kettle. Add

1 gallon + 2/3 cup ale.

Add

3.2 TBs. molassas

8/5 tsp raw sugar

22 blanched almonds

2/5 tsp nutmeg

6/5 tsp cinnamon

2/5 tsp ginger

5.68 TBs. whole cloves

Boil. Add apple.

Whoops. Forgot to say that it said "simmer two hours, stirring
occasionally."
