Default OT but maybe important

This is not at all substantiated yet but I just got 2 facebook messages
from "friends" who posted a link on my wall at nearly the same time.
Both saying that they can't believe who looked up their profile (a
normal facebook ad, but I've never seen it on my wall) so it could be
someone hacked facebook. Don't click on the link on your wall. Seriously.

BTW, I put friends in quotes not because they aren't friended, but
because I doubt at this point they really did post them. I'm still
trying to find out.

Mine was hacked and several of my friends were hacked. Not recently though.

And the moral of the story is: "Don't bother with Facebook".

It is an app that once you've clicked on it automatically sends that
message to everyone in your friends file, for them to click on it as well.
It (IIRC) then asks you for certain details that it really doen't need to
know.

There are a lot of apps out there that are just spam, that is one of them.
Noone has hacked anything, it's just people clicking on the link thinking
they're actually going to see who has 'viewed' their account.

Best bet is to report it to Facebook as spam, who will then kill the app
in its database. (I've done this twice now with other 'apps'... and FB
'kills' them within hours. Pretty good service, if I must say so myself
:-)

Have you checked yet to see if your FB account begins with https? If
it's it ends with an s, it's secure.

I envy your lovely SB weather and your proximity to Central Coast
wines!

Exactly *how* does one submit such a report??? FB is notoriously hard
to contact.

The moral of the story with Facebook is the same as with email and
usenet: Don't be stupid.

Open ones eyes and look for the links that are on each and every app
that you happen to click on.

Bullshit.

As stated, I submitted two requests to report spam apps, and both apps
were 'killed off' within hours and completely removed from the FB
site, and database. I wasn't after a long D&M with the FB staff.
