Default Help for a former webtv user.

I have finally got rid of my webtv and after reading this newsgroup
for years I want to continue on the computer. I downloaded Forte agent
as my newsreader but I need to address for the group to have it come
up in the newsreader. Can someone please help me with that? Thank you
in advance.

What you need is a server address and, if a paying server, a
password. They will supply you with the requisite information to
connect.

Selecting a reliable server is not an easy task. I use GigaNews
and I pay for it.

I read about an [Inuk] hunter who asked the local missionary
priest: "If I did not know about God and sin, would I go to
hell?" "No," said the priest, "not if you did not know."
"Then why," asked the [Inuk], "did you tell me?"

However, that does not guarantee the first one he finds will meet
his needs, in server or reader. I went through quite a few before
settling on Giganews for my server and Xnews for my reader.

I didn't hit a key hard enough to register and left out a letter, so
that sounded stupid...

"Boda should make *note* of eternal-september"

That is nice, would that be like getting multiple feeds at the same
time? Did that with hamster and used agent, talk about how much spam
and BS is really out there on usenet

Let's see.... You're posting from Google, the home of spam with no
ability to filter it, and you're complaining about the spam you
*might* get using a real news server that pre-filters spam for you and
a real news reader that has the ability to let you filter out what
gets through?
