Nearer than Naples Florida.

If you want to be technical about it, no it's not near Italy at all.
It's way on the other side of the Atlantic, in Florida.

And Napoli (not Naples) is of course *in* Italy, not near it. But with
a name like Hafam Hock, he is probably not a native speaker of English
and he used the wrong preposition. No big deal.

There are towns of Naples also in New York and in Maine. Possibly
elsewhere too.

The name is truly spelled as Naples in English. In Finnish and Italian
it is Napoli.

Yes, I mentioned only the best-known US one.

Of course. But...

....it's an Italian city and in Italian, it's spelled Napoli. That
means that it's correct name is Napoli.

In Italian. In similar fashion you can say that Prague, Cologne and
Munich should be spelled differently.

Yes. Praha, Köln, and MÜnchen. Those are their correct names, and what
we call them in English are anglicizations of their correct names.
