![]() I made a loaf cake last night and left out the yogurt. It's fine, but it's not what I want so I was thinking about making bread pudding only with cake. I looked it up and the caution was that cake is too tender for that, but I'm not getting why. I'm okay if the chunks disappear. I don't want to make trifle - I can't think of what to do. I have lots of strawberries.... any ideas? I want something uncomplicated. -- Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's nut that held its ground. |

just make enough eggs and milk to dampen it and try that, it might b too
soft but its wortha a shot, or put it in the freezer until you get some other bread like substances to go with it, Lee "sf" > wrote in message ... > > I made a loaf cake last night and left out the yogurt. I'm thinking it is chocolate-- How about breaking it up and folding it into a simple mousse? Jim |

Make Barb's very strong vanilla ice cream and fold in chunks of the cake. Yum.. I'm thinking: chunks of chocolate cake, sliced strawberries and something white and creamy. Perhaps cream cheese with a little milk, sugar and vanilla? Just in the general direction of a 'trifle'. If that doesn't appeal to you, send it to me. Nothing better than chocolate and strawberries. I had to smile at your leaving out the yogurt. Waaaay too many times I've melted butter in the M/W for something and discovered the butter much too late. My worst left out I guess was the time we left out the noodles in the lasagna. That turned out okay. Polly |

That turned out okay. Polly I cut up the strawberries and macerated them so there was a syrup and spooned them over slices of cake. I still have lots of cake left to figure out what else to do with it though. Ice cream appeals, I've wanted to make some anyway... but I need to empty out part of the freezer first so I can freeze the bowl. However, I think I have way too much cake - so I need to figure out what *else* to do with the rest of it. ![]() I'm still wondering what the problem is with chocolate "bread" pudding made with cake cubes because I wouldn't care if it turned out smooth. IMO, the worst it could be is souffle-like. I may try making it anyway. -- Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's nut that held its ground. |

Whip cream cheese into cream cheese frosting, however you like to do it. Slice the loaf lengthwise into 3 layers. Spread one layer with cream cheese frosting, add sliced strawberries, continue with two more layers. Wrap in waxed paper and chill. Slice into striped slices and call them "Duomo do Siena". |

I remember cake rolls, it was one of my favorites as a kid. Ice cream sandwiches,, too.... |

Oh, yum. I like that. Sounds like a party cake. ![]() -- Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's nut that held its ground. |
