Jill may have the same type grocer resource for fired chicken that I
do, and I fried chicken for many years as my boys were growing up.
The Stater Bros. grocery store here offers fried chicken pieces that
are every bit as good as mine have ever been, and I do enjoy not
having to clean up the frying mess. Also to always be able to have
just the pieces I prefer, in the single dinner plus two lunch sammies
amount I want for four dollars. I usually buy two leg & thigh pieces,
the legs for dinner and the thighs cut off the bones for two lunches.
Makes very good sense to me, three meals for less than five bucks,
plus all the bones thrown into my freezer bag for making stock.

There's a store here that has an 8 piece special for$5.99. It's only
on Friday night but it's quite a deal. We get that, a pack of Kings
Hawaiian rolls and a bag of Ore-Ida steak fries. I'd rather make it
from scratch but it's a very good lazy treat on a Friday night. Sure
beats KFC or Poppey's

I've no idea of its price or quality, I've never eaten KFC... for that
matter I don't like breaded chicken, the coating prevents the skin
from cooking... with crispy breading over raw skin fried chicken is
disgusting. However I love breaded pork chops, there's no disgusting
raw/flabby skin. And I cooked tons of fried chicken... I don't intend
to sound bigoted but the crew on the ship I served on was about 30%
black (a high percentage for that time, it was nicked The African
Queen), the blacks ate all the white's share. On fried chicken days I
cooked pasta and tomato sauce for the whites, the blacks didn't eat
pasta. Even the whites from the deep south were difficult to convince
that spaghetti was edible, they never saw spaghetti before, they
thought it was some sort of worms/fish bait that northerners ate... I
ain't joking... you need to remember the times, was early '60s... US
culture was very different then, fast food really hadn't quite come
onto the scene yet, it was still in its infancy.

To answer the question: Yes, I *have* fried chicken. Then in 1982 (oh yes,
I remember the year!) the chicken "popped" in the grease and the resultant
splatter fused a silk blouse to my chest. I have never fried chicken again.

Two great points! No cleanup of the frying mess and to be able to just pick
out a few pieces for minimal cost.

Popeye's is better But seriously, Publix makes some really good fried
chicken. I buy it a couple of times a year.

Really good fried chicken isn't breaded, it's battered.

Obviously, what you wrote was snipped because it was ignorant. Before you
natter about netiquette, maybe you should first improve the *content* of
your posts. Of course, that means quelling the voices in your head, which is
impossible, so I guess you should just shut the **** up.
