Default Why I love Walmart

They were the only organization, governmental or private, that got aid
to New Orleans after hurricane Katrina.

They offer cheap alternatives to those of us on a very tight budget.

Even if there wasn't a walmart you'd find ways to still be budget
aware. You are right when you say they offer cheap
alternatives...cheap being the key word.

How is an optical engineer who isn't taking on any new business...on a
very tight budget?

You might want to notify Salvation Army, among numerous
others, that they weren't in New Orleans and their efforts
were unnoticed and unappreciated.

I wonder where this strange propaganda is coming from. We are Hurricane
Katrina survivors. Didn't need any aid; sheltered and helped everybody we
could. There was help here from all over the world. Well, except for PETA.

The Salvation Army, Red Cross and other agencies did a lot of good in
New Orleans... but some of the FIRST supplies that rolled into town were
in Walmart trucks.

I don't agree with all their business practices, but fact is that they
did a huge amount of good after Katrina.

Can happen. Although I don't shop at Walmart.

I should have said that they were a major contributor of effective
relief and were probably the first to make a difference. Of course
there were other organizations, although I'm not aware of other
commercial companies or government agencies that did much good.

Ya but...you did say " They offer cheap alternatives to those of us on
a very tight budget". so with that statement one would assume that
"us" included you. Just sayin'

We could argue semantics but I did not state that I shopped at
Walmart. (Actually I have a couple of times in the last 6 months.)

C'mon, Sqwertz... I know you have a bug up your butt about Walmart...
and some (if not all) of your complaints are justified.

But that doesn't negate the fact that in this case, they did a lot of
good. While FEMA was scratching their ass and the Red Cross was
mobilizing, Walmart had aid on the road moving into town.

Read this:

And this: http://tinyurl.com/343cav

You really think they did this for "advertising"?

You know... a drowning man really doesn't care WHO throws him a life jacket.
