Default A pretty good lemonade

I'm diabetic, so I avoid sugar. I drink lemonade as per this recipe:
16oz. ice cold water. Squeeze in 1/2 lemon. I mean really squeeze
everything out. I use a fork to get in there, and squeeze that stuff
into the water. It's pretty good. I find I don't need it sweetened
once I get used to it. I don't need sweetener(diet) either.

I'd add a little tea (no sweetener).

I love cooking with wine.
Sometimes I even put it in the food.

Commercial lemonade seems too sticky, so we make very lightly
sweetened lemonade -- a half tsp to 16 oz.

Maybe try a little zest in there also- strain if desired. That's where
most of the flavor is...

without sugar, it can't be lemonade. what you are making is the stuff
restaurants serve you so you don't feel bad over-paying for lunch

I find ice water with the juice of a small and no sugar is pretty good
too. You can add some peel (zest?) but I don't think it makes much
difference.

Being lazy and having a good memory, this is a throwback to the 70s:-

http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/pag...I8VbkhUPzcBn6J

If line wrap breaks the link, just google for PLJ. 99.8% pasteurised
lemon juice with a touch of Vitamin C added. 20 servings in a bottle. No
squeezing needed.

Just water with lemon. That works.

Yep! I drink it like that when lemons are affordable. I also like to put
lime in there.

Try Stevia if you do. It's all natural and really, really sweet. And it
doesn't have that cloying aftertaste the artifical sweeteners have.

Almost all "soft drink" in this country is sweet syrup(sugar + water +
emulsifiers) to which is added artificial flavouring and colouring and
gassy water at the factory or post mix.

A variation: Use boiling water and WHOLE lemons (including peel) sliced up.
Allow to cool, then retire to the fridge. The rind give the lemonade
that extra body, with a slight bitter taste to balance the acid.

That's interesting. I'll give it a whirl. I got 4 lemons for $1.00
yesterday at the farmers market.

They call the mixture of lemonade and tea "swamp water" around here

AND.... some liquid stevia has a lemon flavor too. Use sparingly.

Yes, it is strong stuff. I used 1 teaspoon in a half gallon of iced sun tea
and it was very prominent a taste.
