Not necessarily. I signed up for the amazon credit card for prime
membership and when I just refinanced my mortgage I just had to write a
note about why they did a credit check. It didn't do anything to my
credit rating.

Ahhh, we're talking about two different things. Amazon has a credit card
that they promote. However, Amazon Prime is available for a fee without the
credit card. The credit check would be made only for those applying for the
credit card.
