Sad news.... for those of you not on FaceBook.... I just got news on FB
from Stephanie, a friend of Blake's, that he has died. I don't know the
details, just that his father contacted her and said that he is not
longer with us.

Dang.

I think we need to stop cooking and eating so much, this group seems to
have a notably higher mortality rate than a number of other groups I
frequent.

I'll miss him.

If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn’t
help the poor, either we’ve got to pretend that Jesus
was just as selfish as we are, or we’ve got to acknowledge
that He commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy
without condition, and then admit that we just don’t
want to do it.

A higher mortality rate? We're all getting older. I don't frequent a lot
of other groups but I think we're better off cooking at home than eating out
five days a week. Sometimes people have illnesses and die. We don't know
what his medical issues were. My father's older brother died at 58. His
sister is still alive and kicking at 90. You can never tell.

I'll miss Blake. He had a sense of fun.

This really brought on tears. We had some delightful exchanges over
the years, and I always did consider him my "pal". He's someone I will
really and truly miss.

I liked the way he signed his posts,' your pal Blake', whether he
'knew' you or not. Sounded like he tried to be a friend to all. Fly

Yeah... I liked that, too. Sometimes his open hand was met with a
closed fist, but he kept on being open. He was one of the first people
to welcome me to this group. RIP, Blake.

I know. I understand that part of it. My point is that I am on Facebook.
Just being on Facebook is not enough to make one privy to that
information. If it was, I'd have known before I saw it here. Thus, WHERE
on Facebook must one be in order to see the information?

I can think of three losses in the time I've been following this group.
Other groups I follow such as rec.crafts.metalworking also tend to have
older members but I can only think of one loss there, and none I can
recall in several other groups.

Yep, you never know so you have to make sure you live today since you
could get hit by a bus tomorrow, but still plan for when you're 90.

I think anDy really thinks he's the one who was wronged. Anyone who
responds to that freak like he's a normal human has a loose screw. The
same goes for shemp. I see he's got an award winning post in this

Sad indeed. I liked his humor, even if I did not agree with some of his
political views, he could be very thought provoking. He will be missed.

No, but that wasn't my point. The OP brought the message here for group
members "not on Facebook" because they wouldn't have heard. I pointed
out that I am on Facebook, yet I was still unaware. The OP's post was
worded as though just being on FB was enough, and my contention was
that, of course, it wasn't.
