I have no favorites at this point as I've not seen all of the competitors yet. Anne Burrell should do well as she has some experience cooking for other iron chef's. I wonder if they have extra space this time around. I imagine there are a lot of big egos to fit in there. |

We used to cook them on my friend's little Suzy Homemaker oven when I was a kid. We made them with garlic salt. |

The only thing to make sure of, is that they hadn't been treated with any pesticides or insecticides or any other chemicals. I thought using the lake water was pretty curious, too - not sure if I'd eat that dish, no matter how thoroughly boiled it was. N. |

Polly Wasn't it Chiarello (sp?) who harvested wild mustard greens and its flowers straight from the field where the 'cook out' was? Sky -- Ultra Ultimate Kitchen Rule - Use the Timer! Yes, wild mustard - sorry, couldn't remember. I don't think that was a bad call - unless nobody asked about chemicals prior to the cookout. After all, they are edible. N. |

She was a sous chef for Cat Cora in several episodes. She was also the CHALLENGER against Cat Cora in "Battle Honey". She lost by a score of 39-38. (Not a very high-scoring battle, that one.) Bob |

Just got around to watching part of it before I had to come in to work. Chiarello got mustard greens, mustard flowers, and purslane (which he called "miner's lettuce") for his salad. I didn't get all the way through the episode, though, so I don't know who got kicked off yet. Bob |

I remember an interview with Cat Cora where she said the competition on the show is real and that she dredded when the secert ingredient was revealed because it would be something like "sugar". Every episode she was in since that interview she has been screwed by the hardest secret ingredients. Each season of The Next Iron Chef I keep expected she's the one who will step down to keep the list of Iron Chef's limited. If I were her I'd be tempted to walk off the set if they gave me yet another ridiculous ingredient like honey. Enough already unless they actually have a deal with her to give her such ingredients. |

What is the criteria that makes one secret ingredient silly and one "genuine?" Any ingredient can be a good one, although this week's Halloween candy was pretty far-fetched. What "screws" one Iron Chef may be a perfect fit for another. Nobody is forcing Cora to be there, unless she has a contract to work out. It sounds to me like she's just tired of it, and there's nothing wrong with that. Anyway, the secret ingredient is one of what, two or three? - that the competitors know about beforehand, so all their dishes can be planned before the competition starts. N. |
