I like GG's presentation more. Larger type (I'm an old guy), only one
window/desktop/whatever you want to call it, but of course GG does not
thread the articles either.

For Headers, Browser and Status Bar? Not what I want increased in
size!!!

I want the MEAT enlarged! The message headers, text of the messages,
etc. I see no way to enlarge those.

You can increase the font size for your message body and TOC in Agent
and you don't have to use any more than one desk if you don't want to.

"Desks", not windows. I hate it when SW authors call something a new
name just becaose they can. Like Microsucks who calls directories
"folders" and bookmarks "favorites".

IME the only font that can't be changed is the spell-checker, which is
a third party app.

I can't be specific because I don't use your version. Mine is located
by clicking on "fonts" under Options > General Preferences. Looking
at http://www.forteinc.com/agent/faq.php I see: You can change the
font via Options | General Preferences | Display | Fonts.

I do not have an "Options" top level menu selection. I have a "Tools-
>Options" that opens up a dialog box with a zillion different things,

including a "Display->Fonts" option, which only allows me to change
the font size on "Header bars...", "Browser..." and "Status Bar...",
none of which affect the font size in the message headers or the
message content "Desks"!

Isn't trying to get GUI help in a text-only conversation FUN??!! ;-)

Me too. I don't play around with the options, I got the fonts how I
like them a while ago and left them that way. I remember I didn't
want to make the font size too large or it wouldn't fit properly. I
just checked, all my fonts are set to Comic Sans 12 pt bold, works for
me. I don't use many of the features that Agent offers. I save
nothing, soon as I'm done reading each down load I delete everything.

You haven't once mentioned which build you have, you just keep saying
"free". There is no Free model anymore. If you downloaded Agent 6
from the Forte website, you have a free 30 day trial - not Free Agent.
If you have the free trial, it's a full version. Free Agent is not
being offered anymore by Forte, so you found it on some other site.
FA won't have features like spell check and the kill file options -
but you can change font size.

I have "Free Agent: (you want that I should take a screen shot and
show you?) version 3.3/32.846 . I have the free version with none of
the full version options like spell check, etc. I saw something once
that said I could get a 30 day trial of the full version, but opted to
retain the Free Agent.

And I told you, the font size change options I have do NOT change the
font size of the things I want to change the font size of. Only of
title bars and crap like that (which I don't care about.)

Look for Variable-Pitch Body and Fixed-Pitch Body.

I don't do "desks". I tried v6 for the 30 day trial period, disabled
it back to v2 and decided to stick with the old model instead of
paying for an "upgrade".

BINGO!! Who woulda thunk "Variable-Pitch Body would do it??!! I think
I'm gonan write some software and call everything in it some stupid

Thanks!

Ver 3.3 came with "desks"

Immaterial now, I have my Free Agent set up the way I like. Except I'd
love to sort message headers latest-first, but I have to get the full
paid version to do that, and I don't want it that bad.

Thanks for your help. It's always that one widget out of a zillion
that makes thing work. That's why GUI is no better than command line
really. At it's inception, GUI was supposed to simplify things because
you could just point and click rather than have to remember a bunch of
command line options. But they the software developers put all the
command line options into GUI options, plus because it *is* GUI, that
added a zillion more options! So now we have a dozen different top
level menu selections, most of which have sub-menus, and most of which
then get you to dialog boxes with control buttons, switches, tabs,
embedded directory-type selections... It's all just a mess! :-(

On every new download of Agent I've seen, the default is latest post
at the top. Click on the word "date" above the date column and see
what happens. The arrow next to it should do a 180° flip and your
messages should resort.

You are using a very old and unsupported version of Free Agent. Times
have moved on considerably since those days. My version of the real
thing is 6.00/32.1186. My registration number is in the first 10,000 so
I was an early adopter.

I set Agent (and Thunderbird) to purge after a predetermined period of
time. That time period is determined by the newsgroup concerned. Some go
after the default, some 2 or 3 months later. Really depends on the
relative interest level and volume of traffic. For example, RFC is on 60
days purely because of the sheer volume of posts to the group.

Directories and bookmarks were early terms. Most people of the non
computer literate type couldn't relate to those terms whereas they
understand a what a folder is, especially with the pictoral icon, and
they understand the concept of "favourites". Micro$ spent a lot of time
and money on developing the user interface.

Your MEAT is enlarged! I respectfully suggest you stop playing with it!

Spend $30 for version 6 and I know you can change font size. Under
"tools", then options/display/fonts

ALMOST everything. Free is OK, but PAY lets you have the font size
you want.

Fonts for the Language Click on Variable Pitch Body. I use 11
point, but 10 is OK too.

Everyone except yourself, evidently.
You must be trolling with these idiotic threads. You just have got to
be.

That doesn't always happen immediately. And we REALLY DON'T want to
hear your crying all over again when it doesn't. Or about any other
problems with Agent or Motzarella.

Make that your last thread about Usenet readers. You're as irritating
as a bad ****. And for an "old guy", you sure do act like little
spoiled little brat, yelling "look at me! look at me!".
