What a great baseball post season in 2004! Until it really happened,
I didn't dare hope that the Red Sox would actually come home with the Championship. This morning I heard that the Lunar Eclipse was responsible for last night's win. That's as good an explanation as any. ![]() I want to celebrate with a grand meal for two tonight. The left over chicken with pasta can wait for another day. Is Boston famous for a special wine? I doubt it, but wine will be served. Perhaps I will just get some sausages, make sauerkraut and open a can of Bush's Baked Boston Beans. A combination Oktoberfest/World Championship dinner. From the sound of his name, Curt Schilling must have German ancestors. Today it is good to be alive!!! |

Minutes after I posted about the celebration dinner and the main course in honor of Curt Schilling, I found out that my idol has feet of clay. He will appear with George Bush and appeal to the general voting population to vote for him. A man whom I admired when he pitched two games under the most horrific physical condition, to get the Championship for the Boston Red Sox, the team from the State of which a senator is the Democratic presidential rival, a man who I hope will be our next president. Naturally, I immediately decided to give up on the sausage dinner and went back to the former menu, namely left over chicken and pasta. That will learn Schilling!!!! I am a woman of principle. Just wait until he finds out about it. ![]() Marcel is bewildered. He expected nice, juicy sausages and delicious sauerkraut and was served dried out chicken and burned pasta. Let him put the blame, where it belongs. |

That means, you are missing out on one of life's most simplest food pleasures, a pan fried hot dog, split down the middle partially, put on a hot dog bun, slathered with Heinz's best, then topped with two or three tablespoons worth of hot baked beans. This is also one of life's messiest food pleasures! And since I know you enjoy a nice glass of wine on occasion, you can even enjoy this simple sandwich with an inexpensive dry red, but I prefer a cold cola instead. |

I imagine that it is hard for people who didn't grow up in Boston to understand what it's been like to be a Red Sox fan over the years. My grandmother died not long after the Red Sox played the Mets in 1986. The last thing I told my grandmother while she was still coherent was that it looked like the Red Sox were finally going to win the series after winning the first two games in New York. She smiled. I'm thrilled! I just wish I was in Boston right now. I should have planned a visit for this week. -Mike |
