Sure. And chicken noodle soup contains chicken. That doesn't make
chicken noodle soup chicken any more than containing cheese makes
Velveeta be cheese.

I like Velveeta for specific applications. I just don't try to confuse
myself that when I eat a melted Velveeta and canned chilli dip that I'm
eating cheese. It's a quick and convenient junk food offering for a
party, not cheese. ;^)

Splenda - It tastes like sugar because it's made from Sugar.

Salt - It tastes like poisonous gas because it's made from chlorine.

Okay, making fun of the jingle goes way past the Velveeta situation. I
think.

American cheese is processed cheese.

Modified, yes, but still basically cheese...or cheese at its base
if you prefer.

The key here is "made from normal cheese and sometimes other
unfermented dairy ingredients".
