Default The Contessa hits a new low

I caught part of her Christmas trip to London show today. It was
interesting enough to see some of the specialty foods available in the
city and to hear her rave about it. One of the things she went bananas
over was a bacon sandwich. She was so impressed with it that she had to
try making one at home, and she was nice enough to show her audience how
to make it. Cook bacon in the oven, butter some toast, put the bacon on
the bottom, put the top on and cut the sandwich in two.

WTF?? It is supposed to be a cooking show, and she squanders her
supposed expertise to a toasted bacon sandwich as if there was some
culinary skill involved??

You have to wonder if Ina and her producers have such a low opinion of
their viewers are so incompetent that they need a demonstration to make
a bacon sandwich. Ina was impressed with this type of bacon sandwich
because it was so simple.... toast, butter, bacon. Gee thanks Ina.
Never would have been able to figure that one out on my own.

Sounds like one of those "scrambled egg" recipes I saw. Scramble eggs, add
salt and pepper, serve.

I've always told you guys that the Big Fat Contessa is poser. She is a
fake in all caps. Here she is going ga-ga over bacon butties and trying
to play them up as something mysterious. She handles everything this
way. Everything she does... everything about HER is overworked,
overproduced and overhyped. Everything. She gives her audience no credit
at all. But then again, when all of your friends are hired, how much
cred do you have yourself?

Contessa:
Honey, let's go to London.

Dufus husband:
Sorry, but it is too expensive. How about you take the cast and crew
of your show and we write it off as a business trip?

She's not the only one who does that and it's not limited to foodtv.

Besides that, the bacon buttie is pretty well known (Christ I live in
Nebraska and I know what one is!).....she has some balls standing
there acting like she's turning the audience on to something *new*.

They eat butties in Nebraska? No wonder the residents weigh two tons
each.

Actually the large hog confinements are all the rage now. And we have
the world's largest Tyson plant. They employ Somalians to carve up
beef.

I've seen her show once. I don't know how anyone could watch theis manitee for more then five minues. Everything she does is so plain Jane, and honky. I could just yack.

I think the trip to London was the bottom line. FN would be better off investing more Sandra Lee than this orca; at least Sandy has table scapes (chuckle.)

That's not a toasted sandwich, that's a sandwich made with toast, for a
toasted sandwich you firstly need to assemble the sandwich and then toast
it.
