I followed the directions he
http://books.google.com/books?id=2Os...pg=PA4&lpg=PA4 It works, but I'd add to cup one hand around the hand squeezing the almond, because those thing just shoot out of their skins. There's a few I won't find until I clean up the kitchen, most likely years from now. It worked so well I bought a pound of hazelnuts to try the same thing. DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. Not even extending the time to half an hour. Now I've got a pound of hazelnuts I don't know what to do with. |

Toast them in the oven first, roll in a clean towel, then put on a sheet pan. Did you ever smoke any Mexican weed in the 70's? Remember how to separate all the seeds? Stoner cooking logic... |

Oh, man... anyone who actually spent money or expended any energy on that stuff was a serious stoner. I came back to my apartment after being gone for a few weeks to find marijuana drying on a 10 x 12 tarp in my room (it was a large flat with several bedrooms and I had room mates). Not only was I surprised by what occupied my room in my absence (yes, I was up to date with my rent), but I learned a life lesson about why it's called "grass". -- Ham and eggs. A day's work for a chicken, a lifetime commitment for a pig. |

If you mean putting a bag over my hand before picking up an almond, I don't see how that would prevent the almond from shooting out. |

Or you can make them into hazlenut flour which is very useful and delicious. |

Yes, but cupping your hand around it isn't a foolproof method for catching the almond as it squirts out of the skin, is it? Bob |

They're different when they're fresh than when they are a month past their harvesting. Both are good. -- Barb, http://web.me.com/barbschaller September 5, 2011 |

Did you live in Mexico? If not, then it wasn't Mexican weed. |

No, I lived in N. CA, so I guess it was California weed, but we called it Mexican...silly teens! |
